I think there's a couple of reasons for me, personally, I love living in Spain. My partners from here, she has a business here and I'm very happy here, but I think in general Hawaii is an incredible place to go and race but for day-to-day training, there's not many options. So it gets a bit monotonous and yet also, as an island in the middle of nowhere basically and yeah to fly to Other races throughout the year would be very hard and yeah. By see ultimately it's down to the fact that actually for my bacon and running perspective, there's not actually much variety and there's a lot better places to basic cell for training.

I love living in Spain and my partner has a business here, but Hawaii is an incredible place to go and race. However, for day-to-day training there are limited options and it can get monotonous. In addition, it would be hard to fly to other races throughout the year. Ultimately, for my running perspective there are better places to base training.

Additionally, Hawaii's geographical location as an isolated island makes it challenging to travel to other races throughout the year. From a biking and running perspective, there are other locations that offer more variety and better training opportunities.

Do you recommend racing with a spare tube, or is a puncture just game over?

I would say. Yeah, for sure you should be counting in a trip especially if you're racing with 70.3 and Ironman because you lose time, but it doesn't have to be game over. I personally always have an inner tube and two cartridges of CO2 and yet you'll lose time, but ultimately even if you decide not to keep on racing, you still need to get home somehow, you still need to get back to the transition zone and yeah. It's starting to you. There's not gonna be a boss waiting for you to take it back. So, yeah, for sure. I'd say, thicker inner tube. Yeah, these days, with the bakes, there's always a place to store them and my severe. There's plenty of space. So yeah, I would say definitely carry and unanswerable.

Definitely carry an inner tube and two cartridges of CO2 when racing with 70.3 and Ironman, as you may need them in the case of a puncture. There is usually plenty of space to store them on your bike, so it shouldn't be an issue.

David McNamee, a Scottish native who started triathlon as a bored swimmer. He found success quickly, earning a U23 world championship silver in 2011. He moved up to longer races and won his second-ever full-distance race in 2015. His greatest success came in Kona, where he became the first British man to stand on the podium. In 2017 and 2018, he took bronze twice and posted the third-fastest time in Kona history. In 2019, sickness forced him to retire before the race. At 34, he continues to strive for a third Kona medal.
