Before the Olympics in 2012, I took part in a cycling sportive that involved a 6-hour bike ride and a 20k run. We ended up winning over 20k and it was my longest day. Transcript: "The biggest training day I've ever completed was before the Olympics in 2012. We're in summer it's altitude and we got involved with a cycling sportive. Went over two massive passes, ended up being a six-hour bike ride, and then got off and did a hour 40 run. And after we got a bit lost and ended up winning over 20k, so about 150k on a bike and a 20k run. It was all slow so it wasn't a super hard day but that was my longest day."
I started working with Lionel Sanders when I did a YouTube series style vlog with him at the 2017 Ironman World Championships. A year later, we launched a full on YouTube channel together. Transcript: "So a massive question that so many people ask me is how I started working with Lionel Sanders. That all just fell into play, actually. I started working for a brand called Garneau back in 2017 at the Ironman World Championships and they had me do a two-day YouTube series style vlog with Lionel Sanders. So the week before his 2017 race which he actually ended up getting second at the Ironman World Championships, I followed Lionel for two days and he talked about his entire block and all that and we just hit off our friendship from there. And then about a year later I pitched him the idea of launching a full on YouTube channel and so we basically hit the ground running and have been creating content ever since."

Talk to a close friend or training partner who has a coach and ask them about their experiences, what coaches they've talked to, and look for somebody who fits your personality. Outline your goals and hold the coach accountable. Do some research online for resources as well. Transcript: "Yeah, there's so many places that you can find training plans online nowadays or other resources that are available, but I would say one of the best things you might be able to do would be to contact somebody that you trust, somebody that's a close friend or somebody that you know that's a friend that's doing triathlon and then maybe talk with them about what their experiences have been, what coaches they've talked to because, yeah, I think that the best thing you can do is find somebody, a coach, you know, that really fits with your personality and that might take some trial and error. So I think you have to be prepared for talking to multiple people and really know what your objectives are, really outline what your goals are and make sure that that's communicated clearly. And then hold the coach accountable. If you're paying for this, then you definitely need to be getting what you desire out of it. So don't be afraid to ask once you establish that relationship. But yeah, lots of resources out there, you know, a simple Google search or again, you know, contacting somebody who is a close friend maybe or somebody that you know that's a training partner that has a coach.
