[LAUGHTER] That's just an example of some core stability exercises, Isaac, and so those, hopefully-- I mean, you progress with them. So you get a little bit more dynamic in the movement. A little bit more explosive. The one with the hip shift, you can be a little bit more explosive with it. And, obviously, that ball one is very dynamic already. So there's a litany of exercises you can do, but it's making sure that core stability, it needs to not just be static. It needs to be dynamic also.

Sure, I can share an exercise for improving take-off height for long jump (LJ). One effective exercise is the box jump. This exercise helps develop explosive power and leg strength, which are essential for achieving a higher take-off height.

To perform the box jump, find a sturdy box or platform of an appropriate height. Start by standing in front of the box with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees and swing your arms back for momentum. Then, explosively jump onto the box, driving your arms forward and extending your hips and legs fully. Land softly on the box, absorbing the impact with your legs. Step down carefully and repeat for several repetitions.

Toilet. So when athletes and coaches talk about engaging, the core or using the core, it's usually having core stability. So being able to Keep your hips neutral. So a lot of times with athletes, we tent, they tend to have anterior rotation. Or what that means is if it was a cup of water, basically, what would happen is you'd be tipping the cup and water will be coming out of the front of the cup. So we want those hips to be as neutral as possible because that allows for all the muscles to make sure that they're the right length and their stability there. So a lot of it, you'll talk about the pelvic core, you'll talk about your abs like transverse abs and Many things like that piriformis and all that. Elise OS, all those muscles. Basically, what they do is they keep the core stable and so, you know, we do core stability. So yeah. You want to do your planks and things like that, but you also have to do Dynamic core stability. So as you, you know, we don't just work in a state of just holding positions. We're moving. Why we're hoping those positions. So they being able to have Dynamic core stability. So things like holding a med ball over your head while you're doing runs or why you're doing. Hurdle Mobility or things like that to help engage that Dynamic course. So being able to engage that core just allows for again loss less loss of force through the body. So we're trying to be a straight male, not a bad man.

The Key Detail in Athletes' Jumps That Most Overlook

Sam one of the subtle details that I look for in an athlete, jumps that maybe a casual wouldn't Observer, wouldn't think of definitely is there free leg thigh at takeoff years ago when I was a young coach, I was looking for commonalities of successful jumpers and I looked pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump, and the commonality that I saw between the events which was interesting to me. Was that at takeoff, every one of the athletes, they're free leg thigh was parallel with the ground at takeoff. So it was like 7 m, female long jumpers, or when even say 7 m, I'd say probably like 720 female on your browser to almost 24-foot, 23 and a half foot female, long jumpers or, you know, 28-foot male long jumpers or, you know, 6 meter or 19 6, Pole vaulters, or 15 feet female or Or you know, right about 5, m, female Walters whatever it was Triple jumper same things. But all the elites, the commonality that I saw is that free leg thigh parallel, free leg thigh at takeoff was parallel and that was common through all the jumping events which was very interesting and eye-opening to me.

One subtle detail that I pay attention to during an athlete's jumps, which a casual observer may not think of, is the position of their free leg thigh at takeoff. Years ago, when I was a young coach, I noticed a commonality among successful jumpers in various events such as pole vault, high jump, long jump, and triple jump. At takeoff, I observed that the free leg thigh of every athlete was parallel to the ground.

This observation held true for elite long jumpers achieving distances of around 7 meters for females or 24 feet for males, pole vaulters reaching heights of 6 meters or 19 feet 6 inches for females, and triple jumpers as well. It was fascinating to see this parallel position of the free leg thigh across all jumping events, and it opened my eyes to this subtle yet important detail.

What is the best way to build a high school athlete's speed for long and triple jump?

Unlocking Speed: Plyometrics and Elastic Strength for High School Jumpers

Stephen. Thank you for the question the best way to build a high school athlete for Speed or a long and triple jump is you get they do have to train like a sprinter. So they have to be mechanically efficient, probably more mechanically efficient than even a sprinter just because they're going to need to be in those positions to have efficiency of both the jumps. I think the big thing with the athlete is developing their elastic strength. So, in high school, they don't need to Super strong in the weight room. A lot of successful athletes who didn't lift a lot. I'd probably never go more than like one and a half times body weight for a high school athlete and just develop them that way so that they can increase that but developing Plyometrics. They're elastic energy, their ability to handle the force loads of the events. And so really just, you know, encompassing little bit of strength, technical aspects. Of running technical aspects of lifting in the weight room and developing them just as a better athlete. The more the better athlete, they're going to be the more speed they're going to have in the more proficiencies are going to have in both the jump. So I would definitely say, you know, make sure you're doing Plyometrics. Make sure you're doing a low intensity strength to strength training. Make sure you know, things like throwing mud balls, jump roping. Bounding Plyometrics things like that but you don't need to really get into what we call specific strength stuff. You can definitely do general strike stuff for the athlete to develop them and make them a lot better and you develop that be able to develop that's before high school jumper.

The best way to build a high school athlete for speed or long and triple jump is to focus on developing their elastic strength. This can be done through low intensity strength training and plyometrics such as throwing mud balls, jump roping, and bounding.

What are the best sources of electrolytes that you recommend for athletes during & post workout?

So how pretty far removed from my nutrition back, the background days and so forth. But I know that we had an issue with cramping recently. So one of the things I looked at was Hot Shots, which were recommended and used by NFL, Major League, Baseball kind of Crossfit, because I know they're CrossFit left. Definitely, cramping is an issue. So kind of look at that, look at some of my research to and saw that like, salt has a big factor in helping with Reading cramping and so forth like that. So, you know, it back in the day, we used to use stimulus. Damn, that's not as available as much anymore, so really because we're Gatorade or responsible, then we tend to use Gatorade things and stuff like that, the electrolyte packets and definitely that HotShots. And you know, even like we've used pickle juice as 12. So definitely highs makes sense with the sodium potassium, calcium channels. So being able and Claw My channels.

To help with cramping, I looked into Hot Shots, which are recommended and used by NFL, Major League Baseball and Crossfit athletes, as well as electrolyte packets, Gatorade and even pickle juice. These all contain sodium, potassium and calcium which can help with cramping.

Jeremy Fischer is an American track and field athlete and coach. He achieved a high jump clearance of 7 ft 6 in, and is the personal coach of Will Claye, who won Olympic medals in two jumping events. Fischer attended Adolfo Camarillo High School, where he won the CIF California State Meet in the high jump in 1994. He attended the University of Wisconsin, becoming an All-American athlete. Fischer began his coaching career out of Wisconsin, as an administrative assistant at his alma mater, then as an assistant coach at California State University, Northridge, and the University of Oklahoma.
