Head Coach University of Georgia
Caryl Smith Gilbert was named Georgia's Director of Track and Field in 2021. She led the University of Southern California women to 2018 and 2021 NCAA outdoor team championships and was National Women's Coach of the Year both of those seasons. In two seasons at UGA, Smith Gilbert earned USTFCCCA South Region Coach of the Year, led the men to a record-setting NCAA Indoor Championships finish, and guided the women to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Championships. Smith Gilbert has mentored over 200 first-team All-Americans, while her teams have set close to 130 school top-10 marks and 50 program records. She was the first female head coach of a men's sports program in the history of Georgia Athletics.
