What was the biggest dilemma you had to deal in your career?

Hey there, I think the biggest dilemma in my swimming career that I had to deal with is knowing that you're good enough, being able to look yourself in the mirror and realize that you're the best version of yourself and you're able to do what you want to do. And yeah, just giving 100% is all you can do. And yeah, the mental side of things is probably the hardest thing to get over.

Hi, Daniel. Thanks for your question. What was the biggest dilemma you had to deal with in my career? It was up to the Sydney Olympics. And I placed fourth in the 100 backstroke. I want to sort of medal in the medley relay and at the time u.s. colleges really had an affinity for Australian swimmers, we had a fantastic Olympic Games. And so I had the opportunity like pretty much to choose any college that I wanted. And I was also Is enormous lead up to Sydney 2000 and I was 23 at the time and so I had an opportunity to either go to another program and move to another city and also move out with a girlfriend that I had been living with. I've been with for probably three or four years and it was literally go to a u.s. college or moved to Sydney and go to a different program that have a different experience. And I, to be honest, I could have some knowing what I know. Now I definitely could have been a better swimmer than what I was. I don't regret that I do. What I do regret is not taking up that opportunity you know to train and compete in the United States and obviously, you know, get a degree over here that would have improved, my swimming, no end, but all things happen in the end and now we live in Atlanta Georgia. So we got here in the end. It just took just took almost 20 years.

What was the biggest dilemma you had to deal with in your career? For me, this would have been at the 2008 Olympics. I had decided to scratch the 200-meter free because I wanted to protect my performance in the 100 free and because I felt like that was going to be my best, my best It'll chance and looking back. You know, one I didn't even make the final in the 100-meter free for, you know, that was that was just my, you know, race day error of judgment. But like, who knows what would have happened in the in the 200 free, I was swimming fast, you know, in the relay, you know, I dove in third, you know, the third swimmer. We Seventh place on the, brought us back to S, you know, whether 144 split, I was 49 on my feet so who knows what would have happened if I had actually swam that 200-meter free? I'm not necessarily saying I would have meddled in the tuner free. It's I mean it's always possible but you know I probably would have been able to make that final and being able to have a tuna meter freestyle final under my belt. And it's this is one of those decisions that I do look back in my current Think. I don't think I made the right choice.
