Mono was born on a dairy farm near Mullumbimby and grew up in Nimbin. As a teen, he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma and had his right leg amputated. He worked to find ways to surf again and eventually won the inaugural International Surfing Association World Adaptive Surfing Championship in 2015. He competed in the first Australian adaptive surfing titles in 2016 and lives life to the fullest, inspiring others with his positivity and tenacity.
