C.J. Hobgood is an ASP World Champ surfer and twin brother to Damien. He entered his first surfing contest in 1989 and won several championships. In 1999, he was the ASP Rookie of the Year and won the WSL World Championship in 2001. He currently lives in Satellite Beach, FL with his wife and daughter. Hobgood plays tennis and has appeared in several films. He won the 2007 US Open of Surfing and the 2008 O'Neill World Cup of Surfing. He and his brother graduated from Satellite High School in 1997 and operated The Goods Surf and Skate in Indialantic, FL. He is also part of the Christian surfers movement.
I miss the people from the tour the most. The high fives, laughs, and carefree moments were the best parts. Transcript: "Morning, crew [INAUDIBLE] what do I miss most about the tour? Sunrises. It's the people. I know, it sounds cliche, but come on, man. 100% of the people. I do not miss anything else. I do not miss having to have a perfect board under my feet, having to just take up that much space in your brain and always thinking about what you got to do. So, no, but I do miss the people, the high fives, the laughs, the peanut gallery, a lot of carefree moments. So [INAUDIBLE]"
The scariest moment for me is when I get injured and I'm left worrying about my career, my ability to support my family, and other such worries. Transcript: "All right. What was the scariest moment ever? Surfing scary to me. Is there's a lot of fear all these things with scary to me has always been like when you get injured and you're just sitting there and like all the things are flooding through your brain. Like what about my contract? What about how long will I be out? Will I be able to support my family will be to provide whether they just will. I be able to breathe qualify those. That to me is like scary side of things wanting the Sharks. The like, I don't know the waves, the all that's not like the it's like a dick. That's a different, kind of fear or scary or whatever. But yeah, scary as we get injured,"
CJ, I'm a former world champion surfer who retired in 2015 and now run a clothing brand with my wife. I recently got my life and health insurance license and enjoy people and spending time with my dog, Bear. Transcript: "Hey CJ, gotta tell you a bit about myself. It's off the hook. I was given the gift of to Surf. I did it for 17 years on the ASP now. WSL tour. I became world champion and 2001. But doing it for 17 years I was always been my greatest accomplishment or fake, my greatest accomplishment is being a husband and a father of three beautiful girls I retired in 2015 from surfing we started a clothing brand salty crew. It's been a huge Adventure there and I have a real estate license with my wife. The Hop Team. I recently just got my life and health insurance license, so, I don't know what I'm gonna do with it, but I'll do something. So, I enjoy people and that's my dog, bear in the back. There's a hack.
