David Kilgore is an ultra-runner renowned for his fearlessness and endurance. He's a four-time Florida state track and cross country champion, All-American runner, and member of the US World Trail and Ultra team. In 2020, he ran 100 miles in a day for charity and circumnavigated Manhattan. His greatest feat was winning the World Marathon Challenge, running seven marathons in seven days on seven continents, with his fastest time being 2:41:50 in Miami.
The next big challenge for me is the MDS Marathon, a six-day stage race in Morocco, where I will have to run on sand dunes for 156 miles. It should be intense and challenging, but I am looking forward to it as well as some summertime racing events such as UTMB World Series and Golden Trail World Series. Transcript: "So the next big challenge for me is MDS Maritain du Sable that's coming in late April. We're all heading over to Morocco and run a portion of the Sahara Desert. It's about a 156 mile six-day stage race where you pack all your own food and you run on the sand dunes the whole time so it should be insanely gnarly. The weather will be you know intense and quite warm. Working on my tan and for summertime you know but yeah that's that's the next one on deck and then moving into some summertime racing and more proper trail series like UTMB World Series and Golden Trail World Series so should be fun. Summer's coming in quick and stoked for it."
Some of my most memorable moments from the World Marathon Challenge was getting to spend time with all the amazing people, experiencing the culture and fabric of each continent, running alongside locals in Fortaleza, Brazil, and finishing in Miami with all the love from my family and friends. Transcript: "So, some of my most memorable moments from the World Marathon Challenge. I would have to say to start off with, I mean, the people. I mean, you're jammed on an airplane for seven days, traveling the entire world with all these new amazing people. So really, you know, getting that time with them was really incredible. And I feel like this is the case for most of the stage race type running. It's such a memorable experience for the type of people you meet. And I feel like you're all just like there embracing this moment together. Another thing was, I feel like experiencing the culture and the fabric of each culture in each continent was cool. I know we were there for a brief second, but Antarctica, for example, like the weather rolled in and it was like super gnarly, but I feel like it was like a proper Antarctic experience. Like the wind was like blowing like crazy. It was like negative 25 or 28 or something along those lines. Even in South Africa and Cape Town, some of the locals, the news came out to run with us and it was like scorching hot. And in Perth and Australia, some of the Australian people came out to cheer. There was a really rad barbecue afterwards and like yoga on the lawn. In Dubai, everyone was in their traditional dress, prayer music going over the city, the Burj Khalifa at sunset. In Madrid, we had like little cafes and like pizza with the team after the race. In Fortaleza in Brazil, we got to run along the coastline on the beach and tons of locals joined in to bike with us, to run with us. And it was on their proper area where they usually work out on a daily basis. And then Miami was just a huge celebration. Me being a Florida man myself, it was iconic to finish down in South Beach and in Florida with all the love from my family and friends. So next level energy when we cross the finish line all together."
Hi everyone, I'm David Kilgour and I'm a professional ultra runner from Florida who works in the sports marketing department of On and also race directs for Trials a Miles. My pup Rough Rider is celebrating his birthday today! Transcript: "Yo, what's up everyone? I'm David Kilgore, aka the Florida Man, aka the Running Renaissance Man. I originally grew up down in Florida and have now been up in New York City for about seven, eight years. I have a cute little puppy. It's his birthday actually today. His name's Rough Rider. And yeah, I feel like I have my hands in a lot of different areas of running. I'm a professional trot and ultra athlete for ON, Red Bull, Pit Viper, New York Athletic Club, but also I work full time at ON in our sports marketing department. And so I get to work with our trot and ultra athletes and other athletes across the board on a daily basis and a great team at ON. So it's really awesome to have a, you know, a say at the table and to hopefully, you know, continue to build and be proactive in growing the sport in a positive way. I also race direct with my buddies at Trials and Miles and we have a couple of races in New York City. So if you're in the area, look us up. We got a beach race in July and a trail race in October."
