What is the best celebration I have witnessed or seen after a race? That's a bias. Because after my races are competing, I would do a backflip, no-hander, aerial landed on my feet. And then I would take the sand from the pit that have brought a Ziploc bag to the track and scoop the sand up because I was confident enough to say that I was going to win that day. But that's just me. But I also think that I think the I'm not sure if it was Jon Drummond or who it was but when they brought the fire extinguisher out and blew the shoes with the fire extinguisher to take the heat off of them. I thought that was pretty hot too so I love them all.

I personally like to do a backflip, no-hander and land on my feet after a race, but I also think it's cool when other racers celebrate by bring out a fire extinguisher and spraying their shoes.

The best celebration I have witnessed or seen after a race is a bit biased because it's my own celebration. After my races, I would perform a backflip, a no-hander aerial, and land on my feet. I would also scoop up sand from the pit using a Ziploc bag because I was confident in my victory that day. But that's just my personal celebration.

However, I also recall a memorable celebration where someone, possibly Jon Drummond, used a fire extinguisher to blow the heat off their shoes. I thought that was a pretty cool and unique celebration as well. Overall, I appreciate and enjoy all types of celebrations after races.

I take no rest days before competition, simply because we are trying to get better every year and the foundation of what you do every day whether it's before race or after a race are hugely important to build a foundation. in the last few throughout the years, that's what I think, creates longevity, and keeping you healthy throughout your career,

As a jumper, I don't take any rest days before race day. The focus is on continuous improvement, and building a strong foundation is crucial. Whether it's before or after a race, the daily routine plays a significant role in creating longevity and maintaining good health throughout my career.

What kind of research do you do before race? This is one of my favorite questions ever. I consider myself like the doctor of the master doctor of preparation for track meets. I know everybody's personal best, I know, you know what their Tendencies are whether they're, you know, the first jump performer or last jump performer. I know their speed. I know, they're, you know, The way they walk in the room, I prepare with everything on everybody else first, as well as prepared preparation for the stadium itself to make sure. I know exactly what's going on at the stadium. So I know where I need to be when how and why? So there's no surprises for me. I also am a prepared enough so that when I do get on the track that I don't have any worries about anybody else or anything that is around me, that I could actually, The concentrate on the things that are necessary for me to jump well and to compete. Well so that means that I don't have to struggle or think about anything else other than executing everything that I do in practice. So I love that question and it's absolutely the best thing that an athlete can do. In my opinion, is your research and game preparation before you even step on the track. You should have every ounce. Piece of information necessary so that you can focus on everything you need to do.

Before a race, I do thorough research on my competition and the stadium to ensure that I'm prepared for anything that might come up. This includes knowing their personal bests, tendencies, speed, and more. I also make sure that I have done all of the necessary preparation so that when I get to the track I can focus solely on executing everything I've practiced.

How do I stay confident before race preparation, just hard work doing training sessions that allows me just to come and execute. What I need to do for myself personally, whether I win lose or indifferent, it's just being able to come and execute what I come out there to do, which is to perform to my best ability.

This allows me to come into the race knowing that I have put in the necessary effort to perform at my best. Do you prefer indoor or outdoor competition for elite performance?

Performance without distractions: The allure of indoor competitions

Do I prefer indoor outdoor competitions for Elite Performance. I actually Don't like indoors but I like it as far as performance because there's no elements and I mean that by no wind there's no rain, there's no cold, there's no you know heat it's just your body and Performing to see where you're at and I love that indoor facilities because it's close-knit everybody's very close. So for Elite Performance to be able to get an indication of where you are. Our for your training and everything else, I really do, prefer the indoor aspect because it really lets you hold on, hold in, on the things that are necessary for you to improve throughout your year.

How consistently do I visualize future races and competitions? I've never really looked at like future races because those are the things I'm going to learn from in the first place. But at the end of the day, I visualize competing of what my what my goal is down, the road almost every day. So every night before I go to sleep, every day, I wake up. Before I go to practice before I do anything, that's when you learn, you know, visualize what it is that you want to accomplish. And I'll training is one thing, but visualizing it to see it and manifest. It is a big deal. So I try to do that every day when I'm competing and I hopefully everybody else does the same thing because you're going to have to compete against somebody like me down the road.

Every day before I go to sleep, practice or do anything, I visualize what I want to accomplish in competitions. This helps me manifest it and prepare for future races.

How consistently do I visualize future races and competitions? I don't typically focus on specific future races because those are the experiences from which I learn. However, I do visualize competing and achieving my goals on a daily basis. Every night before I sleep and every morning when I wake up, I take the time to visualize what I want to accomplish. It's important to not only train physically but also to visualize success and manifest it. I believe it's a significant practice. I hope that others also engage in this visualization process because eventually, we will all have to compete against each other.

Kenny Harrison is a retired triple jumper, winning gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 1991 World Championships, and setting two American records at the Atlanta Olympics. He was a three-time NCAA Champion at Kansas State University, where he was All-American 11 times and the first track & field athlete to enter the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a four-time USA Champion (1990-91, 1996-97) and won the triple jump at the 1990 Goodwill Games and a silver medal at the 1987 World University Games. He was inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 2013 and later formed Signature Athletics, which helps elite athletes with speed and agility training. His 18.09m jump in Atlanta is still an Olympic record and third best all-time.
