Transcript: "How does being an athlete make you a better person? That's a good question being an athlete can make you a better person certainly if you if you're participating in a team sport which as an individual athlete, I always enjoy being a part of the four by 400 meter relay being able to be a team member. So it teaches you how to work with with other people, how to put yourself aside for the greater good. It teaches you how to work within a team and and take your own personal goals and match those with the team goals. So you're a part of something bigger than yourself. I think though for me probably the thing that I believe has helped me to be a better person is as an athlete, I did a lot of reflection on who I am as a person what makes me what's going to make me compete better, what are my weaknesses. And not just looking at just how good I am, but what am I not good at and how do I get better. And the drive to be a better athlete drove me also to really be very conscious of myself as a person and what I'm good at and what I need to work on. And I've carried that throughout my life as a person, as a parent, as an employer, as a manager of people. How do I get better and what am I not good at as opposed to always as an athlete, you tend to always what comes externally to you is that, oh, you're great. But when you want to be really great and you want to be better every day, then you're constantly looking at how to be better. In order to to understand how to be better, you have to understand where there's a room for improvement. And there's always room for improvement. So I think that that makes you a better person when you understand that about yourself that there's always room for improvement."
