What’s the longest distance you’ve ever raced, and how long was your longest training run while preparing for it? Why?

Peter, thanks for that question. The longest race I ever done is a marathon 26.2 miles, but the longest I trained for is 28 miles. I want to make sure that I can cover the distance and then on race day, I can concentrate on getting faster but I try to do a race pace for as long as 16, 18 miles and then the long run, 26 or more. And then add a filter that is and then hopefully I'm Each day I can cover the distance, quite efficiently, and also faster than I didn't train. So that's the goal of doing the long run, this wishes and good luck.

Winning the Mental Game: What Runners Think About While Training and Racing

When I'm running and training thinking a lot about the competition, I'm going to face with and I do a lot of visualization at that time to see how am I going to do a mile 16 of the New York City marathon or the Boston Marathon. So I start visualizing placing yourself in the moment. They know how many people will be there and how are you going to do compared to those and then also analyze what their strengths and weaknesses. If it's a hill, you think about conquering that hill in training? So when it comes on race day, it would be a second. Nature and competition. There you just try to calm as much as you can and be prepared. Obviously, it's mental game. So you think about sometimes he breathe harder, just to kind of fall other people that, hey, he's tire, and they will make a move. And then a minute later, or two minutes later, you make the move because they already shaded the move. So there's a lot of things that wanders your mind, but at the same time, you think about this competitions, what their strengths is what their weaknesses and I able to allocate them, or you have to be able to make that. That move way early. And obviously I also think about the audience and the the crowd and I've got a lot of feedback from them and you look at your Shadow to see you know if that person is next to you or how they're coming along. So it is fun to be interactive and have fun during competition and but more importantly training is the key to success. If you can do those important thinking then it becomes comfortable on race day so visualize have fun at the same time. I'm be cognitive of what's going around yourself.

When running or training for a competition, I like to do a lot of visualization so that on race day I know what to expect and how I'm going to do. I think about the other competitors and their strengths and weaknesses, and I plan out strategies based on that. On race day, I also take into account the crowd and the atmosphere, as well as any competitors around me. Training is key in order to be prepared and successful, and having fun is important too.

While running, my mind is occupied with various thoughts and strategies. I often think about the upcoming competition and engage in visualization exercises. I also pay attention to the audience and the crowd, drawing energy and feedback from their support. I may even glance at my shadow to gauge the proximity of other runners. It's important to interact with the environment and enjoy the competition while staying focused.

Ultimately, training is the key to success. By engaging in these thought processes during training, race day becomes more comfortable and familiar. Visualization, having fun, and being aware of my surroundings all contribute to a successful running experience.

Do you think marathon runners can hit their potential without a traditional runners body?

Breaking Barriers: Marathon Potential Beyond 'Traditional' Runner's Body

That's a great question. Ron that I think marathon runners can reach their potential without additional Runners body. Well, that is not traditional body. There's no perfect person or perfect bodies. As just got to maximize your god-given talent. Like, for example, in 2000 Olympics, Haile, gebrselassie from Ethiopia, 55 and Paltrow got roughly about from Kenya that is about 62 or 63. They was great to on the 10,000 meters and Heidegger. Flash. Someone most people think that the longer legs, you have the color that you are, you going to have, you're going to be the wind, most likely, but that's not the case for everything about to maximize that potential can have an effective race and tactics. So just as long as you use your traditional body kit got it given talent and get the most out of it. You will have a great race and special in the marathon so best wishes and good luck.

That's a great question. I believe marathon runners can reach their potential regardless of having a traditional runner's body. There is no perfect body or ideal physique for running. It's about maximizing your innate talent. 

For example, in the 2000 Olympics, Haile Gebrselassie from Ethiopia, who is around 5'5, and Paul Tergat from Kenya, who is about 6'2 or 6'3, both excelled in the 10,000 meters. Height or body type does not determine success in running. It's about maximizing your potential through effective race strategies and tactics.

What do marathoners think of barefoot runners?

Marathoners' Mixed Views on Barefoot Runners

Why do marathon think of barefoot Runners, you know? H is for someone, I'm very happy content with my Skechers shoes but I see people run marathon and half marathon on pavement and I can get a little green tea because I just felt that hurts and bad at the same time. If you want to do running on pavement for half marathon a marathon, I would recommend it but shorter races you can because I've ever Kayla. Who won the Olympics with therefore, he grew up with that and he did not have shoes and then go back to Barefoot. So figure out what shoes and got it and go back to barefoot running. I wouldn't recommend it, but I have done barefoot running on the grass and strides when I was in college and also other professional. So to just to strengthen the Arches and the plantar fascia and not build up calluses, okay to do on soft grass, some running, but I would not recommend it for full Marathon so, but if that's your style, I'll go at it.

What do marathoners think of barefoot runners? Well, as a marathon runner myself, I can say that opinions vary. Personally, I am quite content with my Skechers shoes for running. However, I have seen people running marathons and half marathons barefoot on pavement, and it can make me a bit curious and skeptical. Running on pavement without any shoes can be painful and potentially harmful.

If you are considering running a marathon or half marathon on pavement, I would not recommend going barefoot. There are even Olympic athletes like Abebe Bikila who won the marathon barefoot, but it's important to note that he grew up running barefoot and then transitioned back to it.

It's okay to do some barefoot running on soft grass to build strength, but I would advise against it for longer distances on harder surfaces.

2022 NYC Marathon: Inspiring Youth, Honoring Legends

My role for the 2022 NYC Marathon was awesome and I'm sorry for the delayed response here. I was an ambassador for the Team 4 Kids which does fundraising for youth so they can have kids free running programs. The New York Road Runners have been doing an amazing work through their charity program so I've been an ambassador and bring awareness and to be at the start line to cheer on the green jerseys for the Team 4 Kids was awesome but also I was at the Night of Champions which was an honor and privilege to be able to hand an award to the Rudin family who have been the icon for the New York City Marathon because they were the first sponsors and to be able to have that legacy go on for many years is awesome and you know it was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the next one.

I was an ambassador for the Team for Kids charity program, bringing awareness and cheering on the green jerseys at the start line of the NYC Marathon. I also had the honor of awarding the first sponsors with a legacy award at the Night of Champions event. Looking forward to the next one!
