The question is how does one train to become a doula? So great question first and foremost finding a group or an organization that you trust And to train under so there are a variety of different organizations that can train you to be a doula So I would highly recommend looking into each of those groups Doing your due diligence and their research to make sure that it is an organization that you align with as far as mission values beliefs techniques so on and so forth And there are a lot of different trainings that you can use so the biggest piece would be the academic portion whether that looks like a couple weekends one weekend intense weekend of training Where they will go through the physiology of birth the anatomy of birth what that looks like They'll go through Breastfeeding any type of feeding challenges they will also go through different modalities that you can use how to be the best doula ever Possible and then there is a practical portion, so there's a certain number of births that you have to attend under a mentor So it definitely goes into an in-depth process And doulas do a ton of training not just within one group But I know that a lot of doulas do trainings and continue to do trainings to better serve their clients as well So first it become fine first is to find the correct Organization that you align with and study the academic portion and then there's going to be a practical mentor mentee Portion and then of course continuing ed so definitely do your research if you're considering to become a door

The question is, how do you know you need a new chiropractor? So great question and my answer really applies to any provider that you're working with, not just your chiropractor. So first and foremost, do you feel like the place that you are going to, the office that you're going to, the providers that you're working with, do you feel like you're actually healing or could heal in that office? Two, are you on your way to reaching your goals if you haven't already? This kind of bounds with the length of time that you've been there and the chronicity of whatever is going on. We're also looking at, is your chiropractor or provider opening up to you as far as like, are they talking to you about what they're doing? Are they talking to you and asking you questions that are pertaining to why you're there for your health, your wellness, things like that? Is your chiropractor doing extra training outside of the office? Not just for techniques, but also, you know, staying up to date on the current research, every technology, things are ever changing, right? And so is your chiropractor or provider staying up with the times as far as research and technology are concerned as well? Do you like going to your chiropractor? I think is a big question too, right? If you don't like going, then that's probably a sign that you probably need someone new. And that, again, goes for any type of provider that you're working with, not just a chiropractor. The biggest thing though is, okay, are you hitting your goals or are you on your way to reaching your goals? Is there a delicate balance between length of time and chronicity of the issue? Is your chiropractor open and talking with you? And are you getting your questions answered? And these are all things that you need to trust innately in your gut.

The question is, how did doula training help you as a chiropractor? So this actually helped me a lot. So during my doula training, we learned about birth and what that looks like. We learned more about pregnancy. We learned about the stages of labor. We learned about different modalities to help decrease pain during labor. We learned about different options when it comes to different interventions, both the pros and the cons of certain interventions. We learned how to make a c-section beautiful. We learned how to make the partner, husband, spouse, whatever that looks like, look like a rock star. So actually, my doula training helped me tremendously in understanding the birth process. And especially getting a different lens from a different profession helped me tremendously too. And it also helped me to make community connections within my community. So looking for the good, certified, qualified doulas that I trust for my practice members to use I think is also huge as well. So really, it helped me to be a better chiropractor, just from the perspective of learning more about birth, the different interventions that are used, both the pros and the cons, different tools that you can use to help decrease pain during pregnancy, birth, and labor, more about the postpartum experience. So if anything, it did help me tremendously to really understand that part, to better serve our practice members. And then it also helped me to create more community connections within my own community for our practice members as well.

Having this additional perspective from a different profession has greatly enhanced my understanding of birth and helped me become a better chiropractor. The question is, what advice would you give someone who is interested in pursuing a career in chiropractic care? So, great question. First and foremost, I would make sure this is something that you really, really want to do. I would be shadowing different chiropractors' offices because every chiropractor is a little bit different and their philosophy is a little bit different. I would highly recommend listening to podcasts with chiropractors or chiropractic podcasts that are specifically tailored toward chiropractic care or chiropractic students. And of course, I would visit schools because every chiropractic school is a little bit different as well as far as philosophy, techniques, pass rate, fail rate, so on and so forth. Different clubs, different opportunities that they have at each school. So, it's a huge investment of your time, first and foremost. And it's a huge sacrifice and it's a huge financial commitment as well. So, I would highly recommend to make sure that this is something you want to pursue. Just do everything that you can to shadow different offices to make sure that this is something that you like. I would highly recommend either reading books. There's different philosophy books and also different technique books that you can start to dive into just to make sure, again, that this is something for you. And then, of course, listening to podcasts, which is so easy to do, especially because there's so much access to free stuff out there and free content. So, I would highly recommend either doing a Google search or a search on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and start looking for some of the top rated chiropractic podcasts and start listening to them to make sure that this is something that you really feel called to and aligned with.

Make sure that chiropractic care is something you really want to pursue. Shadow different chiropractors offices and visit schools to get a better understanding of their philosophy and techniques.
