What lessons did you learn while serving in the Navy?

Transformative lessons from Navy mentors: valuing people, leading with purpose.

Some of the most valuable lessons I learned in the Navy. Number one, to be able to accept mentorship where I come from and my life experiences prior to going into the Navy, I didn't have mentors in my life. Well, it was mentors to go the other way, not the way I wanted to go. To have people truly believe in me when I didn't even believe in myself. What them people taught me, couple gentlemen in particular, but men and women that I learned from in the military was the ability to value people over process. The ability to lead and develop people in a way that absolutely will transform their life long-term and the ripple effects that we all create when we're focused on service to others and where we're going. And so it was beautiful to just be part of something greater than myself. And then it was amazing to be able to learn from exceptional leaders along the way to make me a better human being. While serving in the Navy, I learned some incredibly valuable lessons. One of the most important lessons was the ability to accept mentorship. Prior to joining the Navy, I didn't have positive mentors in my life. However, in the military, I had the privilege of having people who truly believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. They taught me the importance of valuing people over processes and the transformative power of leading and developing others. This focus on service to others and personal growth created a ripple effect that extended beyond myself. Being part of something greater than myself was a beautiful experience, and learning from exceptional leaders along the way made me a better human being. I am truly grateful for these lessons and the blessings they brought into my life.

What was the most rewarding experience you had in corporate America?

Transforming Lives: The Reward of Developing Leaders in Corporate America

The most rewarding experience that I've had in corporate America is the ability to absolutely transform somebody's life. As I took leaders from being frontline employees or being managers or supervisors and help them develop the skills necessary to lead and develop other people, you could see that mind shift change in what they were doing. And the impact that those people still continue to have on their teams today, long after I'm gone and they moved on or I moved on, is a huge, huge blessing on my life. So I love the development of leadership. I love building the next generation of leaders. Go out there, know that the impact you're having today is gonna affect them and their families one year, five years, ten years from now. And lead with that mental mindset that you're gonna be the person that they remember ten years down the road. Have a blessed day.

Witnessing their mindset shift and the lasting impact they had on their teams, even after I or they moved on, was truly fulfilling.

I have a passion for developing leadership and building the next generation of leaders. It's incredible to think that the impact we have today will continue to affect them and their families in the years to come. I believe in leading with the mindset that we can be the person they remember and look up to, even ten years down the road.

Navy veteran reveals global deployments and diverse cultures

Where was I deployed? So look, one of the reasons I joined the Navy, really the primary reason at the time, was because I felt like I could see more of the world by being in the Navy, because hey, they float on ships and they go to different ports. And so as far as being stationed, I was stationed in San Diego and Jacksonville, Florida, Virginia Beach twice, Washington, DC, and even Japan for a tour. As far as deployments goes, I've been all over the world. I've been to France and Portugal and Dubai, which was amazing, Bahrain. I've been to Sydney, Australia. I've been to Singapore. I've been to Thailand. And so I had an opportunity to really see very diverse cultures all over the world on multiple deployments, which was really a blessing for me. And so I'm an advocate. Of course, I'm a Navy veteran. If you're thinking about going in the military and you wanna maximize what you're seeing the most, going in the Navy is the one that I would recommend.

I was stationed in San Diego, Jacksonville, Florida, Virginia Beach, Washington DC and Japan, and I have been deployed to many places around the world including France, Portugal, Dubai, Bahrain, Sydney, Australia, Singapore, and Thailand.

In terms of deployments, I had the opportunity to travel all over the world. I visited countries such as France, Portugal, Dubai (which was amazing), Bahrain, Sydney (Australia), Singapore, and Thailand. These deployments allowed me to experience diverse cultures and see different parts of the world. It was truly a blessing for me, and as a Navy veteran, I highly recommend considering the Navy if you want to maximize your exposure to different places.
