Between sponsorship and prize money, do pro triathletes make enough money? Well, I think the very, very best in the world do. I think they get looked after very well from endorsements. And I think the prize money is there. If you're winning and winning often, and you're making a strong six figure, if not, potentially, a seven figure career, if you're the very best in the world. So yes, I think the pro triathletes do make a good living, if they are towards the very top, the pointy end of the sport.

Do pro triathletes make enough money between sponsorship and prize money? In my opinion, the top-tier athletes in the world do. They receive significant support through endorsements and have access to substantial prize money. If you consistently win and establish yourself as one of the best, you can have a lucrative career, earning a strong six-figure or potentially even a seven-figure income. So, yes, I believe pro triathletes can make a good living if they are at the very top of the sport.

Ian has brought the Tour de France. All right, on the vine and he comes over. 55 seconds, discount down here Sons and Daughters of God by eight seconds. Can you believe that followed video on his roster Thor and Greg bubble that when it? Well, Phil Liggett is the voice of cycling. There is none better. He doesn't just call a bike race. He does it with such passion that you can't help but be invested. I remember as a kid I wasn't really even into cycling, but he was this person that could paint a picture through his storytelling. That was just so wonderful that you couldn't ignore his voice. And you were fully invested yourself in what was going on and, and for the last 30 years, I've been going to France every year with him for the month of July, and the way he just Paints the picture of what's going. Not only in the bike race, and the personalities within the race, but the, the French Countryside, the villagers and the And everything about it. It's just, you know I think Affiliates voice and I actually, I feel joyful. It's a, it's such an honor to actually call him a friend. Now, the fact that he's caught my name in a race before, is kind of like a career highlight, the fact that I've got to announce with him at an event was was such a privilege and, you know, 50 years at the Tour de France, Phil huge shout-out, made incredible effort and just I shared that clip at the beginning, because Because I know that's one of your favorite calls of all time and it was really spectacular. When I hear Phil Liggett's voice, I think of the Tour de France. He is the voice of cycling, and there is no one better. His passion and storytelling ability make you fully invested in the race, even if you're not a cycling fan. As a kid, his voice painted a vivid picture that captivated me. For the past 30 years, I've had the privilege of going to France with him every July, and he not only describes the race and its personalities but also the French countryside and the entire experience.

What was the most discussed race in Olympic swimming history? 

The Most Epic Swimming Race in Olympic History

I thought I'd jump in on this one. I've looked at a lot of the answers from from many of the others experts and I would say there's two events neck and neck. Many of mentioned the 4 by 100 in 08 where the Americans overcame the French but there's one other one that I think Trump's it just slightly and that's probably because I'm a little bias. I'm not gonna lie and that was the Australians beating the Americans in 2000 at the The Sydney Olympics home soil. The Americans had never been beaten. They'd never been beaten in the 4 by 100 men. And the men out, touch them with Ian Thorpe on the final leg. Michael Klim, set a world record on the first leg. The Americans kept swimming faster for the first fifty and the Australians would always bring it home and just nudge them out in the last 25 of each of the legs. And that one was I can bring back Goosebumps when I think about Out how special that one was. So yes, they're very close. I'd say the two thousand and the 2008 men's 4 by 100 is but I'm going to lean on the men in the Australian men in 2004. Just the most epic race, most discussed race in Australian culture was the most discussed rates. So yeah, there's my two cents. Cheers.

However, I have a slight bias towards another race that I believe surpasses it. That race is the Australians beating the Americans in the 4x100 relay at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. It was on home soil, and the Americans had never been defeated in this event. The Australians, with Ian Thorpe on the final leg and Michael Klim setting a world record on the first leg, managed to out-touch the Americans in the last 25 meters of each leg. For competitive triathletes, which of the three disciplines helps the other two the most?

Maximizing Triathlon Performance: How Swim Fitness Enhances Bike and Run

This is a good question, I To be a really competitive triathlete. I really think you need to be working on all three, but keeping in mind that your heart and lungs, don't know any different. They're operating at a consistently high level. I think of swimming and because you don't beat yourself up in the pool, there's no physical damage from like the running that you get or the tightness that you get from the bike. So the swimming does seem to cross over very well that if you can become aerobically very, very fit in the pool. I think you'll find that that translates pretty well to the bike and run. The problem with the bike is you set in one position for so long and you get very tight in the shoulders and that can affect your swimming and then you get tight in the hips so that then fix your running. But it's worthwhile being really strong on the bike because you is such a big portion of the race of triathlon and then running a as much as it can be very damaging on the body. I always found if I got myself really really fit running like just that You know, 10/10 when I'm ready to rock, I really did find my swimming improved as well because I just became so fit that I could just turn my arms over so rapidly in the pool and then even on the bike, you know, the better I was running. I tended to bike really well as well. So they all do cross over the bike is the one that can probably hurt the other two a little bit. If you get too tight from it but the swimmin run, if you get yourself very aerobically fit in those, I think that Fitness really does cross over. Good question, James.

To be a competitive triathlete, you need to have a good level of fitness in all three disciplines. Swimming and running can help your aerobic fitness which will translate well to the bike, but the long time spent in one position on the bike can lead to tightness that can affect your swimming and running.

The increased overall fitness allows for rapid arm turnover in the pool. Additionally, improved running fitness tends to translate to better biking performance.

What happened at the Beijing international triathlon in 2016?

Triathlon Legend Retires Mid-Race - A Life-Changing Moment in Beijing 2016

The Beijing Triathlon. Well, I had a Forrest Gump moment. So anybody seen the movie? Forrest Gump knows that. When he's running across America, he keeps doing it for the longest time backwards and forwards and then finally, just get to the point and says he stops and says I think I'll go home now and for me Beijing, 2016 was after 27, professional years of racing and almost 30 plus years of doing the sport and I got onto the start of the bike. Just at the back of the lead group, I was in. Okay, position started writing about two kilometers in just over a mile, I just stopped pedaling and Basically said I'm done. The the bucket was empty and I didn't want to do it anymore. I ride back to the hotel called the race director and said, I've pulled out of the race, you know, forgive me, they were very good about it and then I called my wife who also on that same day was doing her final race, which she was doing in Colorado up at 11,000 feet of something, which she won. And I said to Laura, I believe I'm retired and she said, I am too. So both of us retired on the same day, 2016, I retired at the Beijing International Triathlon and never looked back. I was very fortunate to be able to retire on my own terms and have zero. Regrets, I done everything, I possibly could got the most out of myself and the next chapter of my life started just

In 2016, I retired from professional triathlon racing at the Beijing International Triathlon. My wife was also retiring that same day and we both enjoyed being able to retire on our own terms with no regrets, having done all we could to get the most out of our racing careers.

At the Beijing International Triathlon in 2016, something significant happened for me. It was like a moment out of the movie Forrest Gump. After 27 years of professional racing and nearly 30 years in the sport, I reached a point where I decided to stop. During the race, I was at the back of the lead group on the bike, but after about two kilometers, I simply stopped pedaling. I realized that my passion and motivation had run out. I rode back to the hotel, called the race director to inform them that I was pulling out of the race. They were understanding about it. Then, I called my wife, who was also competing in her final race that day in Colorado. She had won her race at an altitude of 11,000 feet. I told her that I believed I was retired, and she said she was too. So, both of us retired on the same day in 2016, at the Beijing International Triathlon. I have never looked back since then. I consider myself fortunate to have retired on my own terms without any regrets. I had given my all and achieved everything I could in the sport. This marked the beginning of the next chapter of my life.

Why is there no dominant body type for triathlon?  Other sports seem highly specialized.

Triathlon: No Dominant Body Type - Lean and Diverse

Well, it's a good question. Why is there no dominant body type for trifon? The sports seem to have their little bit more. I guess there is a dominant body type in the sense that every trifle it is very lean. You don't see too many of them carrying too much heavy, bulky muscle or fat for that matter. Generally, they're very, very lean. But in terms of height, you know, you have the mat reads of the world that are six foot five and yarn for Dino, he must be a 6-3 or so. And then you have, you know, the Much much smaller guys and then there's everything else in between and there's a guy that's just shy of 6. Ft, I felt like I was about the average but you're right in terms of height, it's all over the place but all triathletes are very lean

There is no dominant body type for triathletes as they come in all shapes and sizes. Generally, they are very lean and range from very tall to very short.

Triathletes tend to be very lean, with minimal excess muscle or fat. However, when it comes to height, there is a wide range among triathletes. Some are taller, like athletes such as Matt Reed at 6'5 or Jan Frodeno at around 6'3, while others are shorter. There is a diverse range of heights in between as well. As a triathlete myself, standing just under 6 feet, I feel like I'm around the average height. So, while height may vary, the common factor among triathletes is their lean physique.
