What is your system for data protection and what are your favorite data backup Solutions? Well, I have a server at home and to be really honest I am not like a data geek. I've definitely rely on my husband to help me cuz you know, if we talked about what our strengths and our weaknesses, our this is definitely not my strength. So I rely on others who are more Adept at this than me. And so, my husband came and he set up a server for me and I also have I have little drives that I keep to, so if I'm on location shooting, I will download my cards to my computer and then I will back those up on these drives. And then those drives will get backed up, time to my server. And then all of the final selects get put on photoshelter, which is a secure online storage system that also ties into my secure website.

Hi Kate. I wanted to let you know that even somebody like myself, who's a professional and has been for a number of years, I still get impostor syndrome. I still walk into a room of other professionals and think how is it that I'm here? How is it that my work is published. Somebody is going to find out that I'm a fraud at some point. But you know what, that's a very human response and having those feelings of insecurity is a very human human nature. And I feel like what you need to remember, is the work that you're creating is your art and just remember to artist objective. Will there be good and bad? Yes, good and bad feedback. Sure, will there be setbacks along the way? Yeah, some people are going to tell, you know, I've been told no many times in my life but at again at the end of the day, it's all about the art your that you create create work that makes you happy, create photographs that resonate with you. And as long as You're doing that. You're not an imposter, you're an artist.

Are there any red flags to look for when taking on a client? Yes I think you know I think a client relationship should be one that you know, there's somebody you want to have dinner with or there's somebody want to hang out with outside of the works fear and by that, I mean there's an open dialogue. It's you know, very transparent about what your expectations are for your client and what there's ours of you now, the red flags would be if If they ask for something and then change the game, 5 seconds later, and then change it again. And then ask for something more without offering compensation for that. Those are red flags and you want to be able to have a very transparent relationship. If for right out the gate things are a little muddy. Then you want to be treading with caution and maybe ask some critical questions of your clients and decide that maybe the best thing to do would be to walk away.

So, what does it feel like when my Creative Vision merges with subjects Essence? Well, I actually want that to happen during my portrait sessions. I let my subjects drive, my creative response. Do I have a repertoire? Sure. Do I know what I'm doing? Behind the camera. Yes, I have knowledge of different lighting and how that lighting relates emotion and feeling, but I watch and engage with my subjects. I I listen to their nonverbals, I utilize their own tells and I let their Essence drive, those creative tools that I have photographic lie to make the image in the end, ultimately their personality shines through, and I find that that is the most productive and best way to create creative, portraits and capture that essence.

When my Creative Vision merges with a subject's Essence, it feels like I am engaging with the subject to listen and watch their nonverbals, utilizing their own tells, and letting their essence drive the creative tools I use to create the best portrait that captures the true essence of their personality.

Where is a good place to sell? Older photography equipment online. Well, of course, Facebook Marketplace has grown in popularity and I've sold some old pieces on there, but nine times out of ten. I will. When I when I upgrade my gear to the latest and greatest, I will usually send my gear over to Sammy's and they will refurbish it and clean it up and get it back on the market to somebody else, who's ready? To give it new life, I That if you are buying used gear using a an organ or a company like Sammy's or be in a Torquay eh at least you'll know it has been looked over and you know that it's functioning and has been sort of graded in a way but for me that's why I tend to sell to companies like Sammy's so that I know that it's getting looked over getting cleaned up and going into good hands.

Are there strategies to improving your visual literacy? Absolutely. I think understanding how color impacts how the viewer read something. So something that is full of cool colors, whether that's black purple blue, they will give that off the emotion of something a little bit more, soft or cold in nature and those that are warm, like yellow, Oh, white red. They bounced away from from the background and they are forward-moving colors. Whereas cool colors are regressive. So learning more about color and how it influences the viewers reading of an image, definitely can expand your vocabulary. I think, understanding how light and impacts viewership is also really smart because when you're more aware of, when lighting, Hits your subject and how light impacts your subject. You can apply that more to conveying certain emotions or certain feelings about people. So, having a wide breadth of understanding regarding lighting is important body language. How somebody is sitting or how their gestures our nonverbals are expressive. So understanding that language is so important. Absolutely broadening your horizons color, light contrast, emotion body language, all of the above
