- Favorite lens hands down is a 50 millimeter lens. To me, the 50 millimeter lens makes it look like you are like-- it actually shows you how wide the barrel is, times a fisheye, a wide angle, anything like that can really distort the wave size and shape. So the 50 millimeter, to me, when you can get it in the barrel and really shoot the surfer, you're going to see how wide it is, how scary it is, and how big the waves are. So the 50 millimeter lens in a housing.

I loaded a video of myself bodysurfing that I take at a beach Sandy's where I learned to shoot and really fell in love with water photography. And to me, it's to remind you myself and everyone why we do photography to enjoy the moment and to be present and you know, so often we are overcome with so much. Each deliverables and content in different things or to dues and stresses that stop have fun. Remember why you got into photography, why you enjoy the moment and laugh and enjoy Where You Are?

Maximize your talents: Using an agent and manager is crucial!

Absolutely, use an agent and a manager, something that I learned early on, in my career, many people want to hold things close to you. But to me, I want to do what I'm best at. And what I'm best at is being in the water and shooting, not answering the emails, not coordinating. Not invoicing, not heckling for money or finding like the rights are usages or things like that. That's not my forte and, you know, yeah, you're carving out a percentage of the imagery or for your sales or whatever it is or your services. But streamline, what you're good at, utilize yourself and make sure that you're using your time best in order to maximize your talents. Hope that helps

Yes, I do have an agent and a manager. Early on in my career, I realized the importance of delegating certain tasks to professionals who excel in those areas. While some people prefer to handle everything themselves, I recognized that my strengths lie in being in the water and capturing images, not in administrative tasks like answering emails, coordinating, invoicing, or negotiating rights and usages.

By utilizing an agent and a manager, I can focus on what I do best and maximize my talents. While it does involve sharing a percentage of the sales or services, it allows me to streamline my workflow and ensure that my time is used most effectively.

Having a team to handle these aspects frees me up to concentrate on my craft and make the most of my abilities.

What’s your advice for people wanting to shoot at Pipeline?

Pipeline Photography: Respect and Mindfulness are Key

Pipeline is the ultimate Proving Ground. It is not only for Surfers but I feel for photographers and you know, it's a captivating and beautiful wave. It's one of the most dangerous waves in the world for a multitude of reasons. Not only being so shallow but just this sheer mass and amount of humans surfing it as well as shooting it can be staggering. And with that said you know you really need to kind of find your place as well as wait for your turn and be respectful. I think that's the most Important thing is be respectful knowing who's been there before you kind of going out. If there's no one else out shooting go for it. If there's other people shooting be mindful of seeing what lens they're shooting with seeing how they're shooting or where they're shooting and just be mindful. Because if you go right in front of them you're shooting with a fish on your in the channel, and holding up your lens and in front of other people, it's not going to go very well for you. It's very disrespectful in that way and they know that you're kind of not getting the shot being that far away. Way. So be very mindful of others and respectful. It goes a long way and come because you're going to fall in love with that wave. It is one of the most magnificent waves I've ever seen.

Photography and social media. I think you need to think of it more, as you're like platform as well, as like your showcase, it's your portfolio in a sense. And if you utilize it in this way, it can unlock a number of different opportunities as well as like, you know, Ways for you to express yourself and shoot. And it's such an important thing to utilize in that way. So remembering that, you know, you can have your personal one, but also having your photography one, if that's what you want to do, it allows you to be discovered. It allows you to see a wider audience and to be seen and it's something that like, use it as a tool. It is subjective. Just as editing, everything is subjective in that way that you can't take it personally, you know, won't it might be Your most technical and difficult shot you ever got, and you're so proud. And then the one that's oversaturated like Sunset does better, because it's very subjective, do not take it personal, take it with a grain of salt, but use it as your branding, use it in the way that you can express yourself and be found.

Utilize photography and social media as a platform to express yourself, showcase your portfolio, and be discovered. Don't take it personally if some of your most technical shots don't get the same recognition as oversaturated sunsets. Use it as a tool to brand yourself.

I am Zak noyle and I've had a few different campaigns with apple utilizing the iPhone from Billboards to even a commercial that I got to shoot with them all on smartphone in Cuba. And so this to me, I love, I think the smartphone is an incredible tool to be used. And one thing my dad always told me is the best camera. You can have, is the one you have with you. What do you always have with you? Your smartphone? So utilizing that in a different way. Another thing is Shoot loose and edit tight. I hate when people take one photo, they stop and then they're good. What if the person what if the subjects eyes are closed, what if it's slightly blurry? I shoot, 5 to 10 minimum and each setting with each, like, kind of composition in order to go back later and find that right moment. And to me, this is a way that I can utilize a smartphone, especially with digital and shoot loose edit tight composition, I think is a great thing. Utilizing the Bone in order to, you know, compose differently, when you're shooting with a regular camera, sometimes your youth looking through the viewfinder with a smartphone, holding it out, looking at it and trying to find that like composition and seeing what's happening around you. It allows you to compose differently. Take care.
