I think the biggest mistake a lot of people make is just not shooting in us and also not shooting enough different subjects. Tech's Rapid Evolution: Changing Landscape of Photography

The most interesting thing for me in my field is actually how technology is changing so quickly, when I first started, we had like GoPro threes, with no back screen, drones weren't a thing. The megapixel count on cameras was super low and we were like, some people are still shooting a little bit of film dslrs were really like coming into it, mainly and now, we're switching over to mirrorless The cameras are just so good nowadays that this kind of expertise that I feel like I had to learn 68 years ago or so is almost less relevant because there's so much automatic. There's so many automatic features on these cameras with the eye tracking and everything in between. It's just crazy how quickly it's progressing and it's like. Where's that going to lead between f? V 360 cameras, drones progressing mirrorless cameras, progressing, cameras, like The Institute, like go, that's like the tiniest camera the size of your thumb. It's really cool because these are opening up like all these creative like Avenues and how you can like capture images. But at the same time, how's that going to affect? People? Like us who've been in the industry and like know, how do you like use things in a different kind of traditional Sense. But I think that's really going to push this industry in a particular way, going forward with a whole new crop of people like getting into it because it's just making that barrier of Entry. So much easier.

What is your scariest moment ever shooting out at Pipeline?

Surfer's Nightmare: Leash Wrapped Around Neck in Terrifying Pipeline Incident

Heavy waves in a lot of water is definitely something to like be afraid of pie for like having scary experiences like Zach did. But for me personally, I think my scariest experience was actually when I got a surfboard leash wrapped around my neck, I was going underneath a wave and a surfer was coming on it. Like I had decided not to shoot it anymore but I was like probably two to three feet from the surface, the Surfers leash while he was riding the wave wrapped around my Neck and pulled me probably like 45 feet and it was absolutely terrifying because it was like, is this gonna break my neck? Like, it was so shocking, because I wasn't expecting it going underneath that wave or anything like that. And I feel like there could have been so many bad things that came of that and luckily I just like shimmied my head and it caught my helmet a little bit and then it eventually whipped off. But that was terrifying and I feel like that could have gone a lot of of bad ways.

One of the scariest moments I've had shooting out at Pipeline was when a surfboard leash wrapped around my neck. I was going underneath a wave, and a surfer riding the wave had their leash wrap around me. It pulled me for about 45 feet, and I was absolutely terrified. I was shocked and worried that it could break my neck. It was unexpected, and there could have been many negative outcomes. Thankfully, I managed to shimmy my head, and the leash eventually whipped off, but it was a truly terrifying experience.

Danger, Lightning, and Northern Lights: Dream Surfing Photos Await

That fish eye under the lip is actually one of my dream photos to capture as well. And like Ryan said, it's so difficult to get that because you have to be inches away underneath the surfer. And there's so much danger because you have to be in relatively big waves. So, there's a lot of water moving around. And also you have like the surfer at the fin of the surfer. What if he falls on you? There's so much danger there. But then I've also got a couple other photos. I really want to shoot surfing with lightning in the background. Round. I know that's kind of interesting, but I think someone hanging 10 with just a giant lightning streak in the background would be unbelievable. And then also, I really want to shoot surfing with the Northern Lights, potentially in Iceland, or Norway. I was in Iceland shooting this past year and it's unbelievable. I can't wait to go back and see where the creative possibilities that go with surfing up there. The way is are actually a lot better than people realize.

I dream of capturing a fish eye photo of a surfer from underneath the lip, as well as shooting surfing with lightning in the background or with the Northern Lights in Iceland or Norway.

One of my dream photos that I haven't captured yet is the fish eye under the lip shot. It's incredibly challenging because you have to be inches away underneath the surfer, facing the danger of being in big waves with water moving all around. There's also the risk of the surfer's fin potentially falling on you. It's a shot that requires both skill and caution.

In addition to that, there are a couple of other photos on my bucket list. I really want to capture surfing with lightning in the background. It may sound unusual, but the image of someone riding a wave with a massive lightning streak behind them would be absolutely incredible.

Another photo I aspire to capture is surfing with the Northern Lights as the backdrop. Whether it's in Iceland or Norway, the creative possibilities of combining surfing with the mesmerizing Northern Lights are something I can't wait to explore. I had the opportunity to shoot in Iceland recently, and the waves there are even better than people realize.

These are just a few of the images that I hope to capture in the future, each presenting its own unique challenges and creative opportunities.

Among the gear that you’ve purchased, is there something you wish you hadn’t in hindsight?

Regrettable keyboard purchase: My Lightroom workflow didn't improve.

The most recent regrettable photography purchase has got to be one of these keyboards for Lightroom. I thought that it would help speed up my workflow and stuff like that, but it really just didn't I could do it way faster with the mouse and especially with the new Lightroom updates, it was so unnecessary. I just didn't really need it and it didn't speed up my workflow at all. It actually slowed it down because of trying to figure out where the knobs were in stuff like that. When you could just have your own presets on your keyboard, making your work low-fat, Fast. Like I have again, that is the loop deck Lightroom like speed editor keyboard. Yeah, definitely. Don't suggest getting it. It's not necessary.

I recently purchased a keyboard for Lightroom and it was a regretable purchase because it didn't speed up my workflow at all, in fact it slowed it down. I don't recommend getting one as it is not necessary.
