Transcript: "Hi there, I'm happy to introduce myself. I'm Roseanne Rust. I'm a registered dietitian. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received my master's in nutrition in Pittsburgh. Early in my career, I began working in the clinical setting in a hospital and I also worked in the outpatient nutrition setting, which I enjoyed very much. I worked in a data collection center for a large clinical trial. I realized early in my career that I really enjoyed the education component of it. When I began to have children, I decided I wanted some flexibility in my career. We had moved, so I decided to become an independent consultant. So I did some nutrition counseling and I took a variety of different jobs. I worked at Head Start. I worked in long-term care and I was interested in becoming a writer. So I pitched the local newspaper and I wrote a newspaper column for 20 years to launch my writing career. My expertise at the time was in weight management and cardiovascular health and I had the opportunity to become a co-author of a book in the For Dummies series and then that led to Dash Diet. Dash Diet is dietary approaches to stop hypertension, high blood pressure. I became very interested in the agricultural space and learning more about where our food comes from. I'd say my expertise is the area of cardiovascular health and most recently food waste. I did a lot of research in that area to write my latest book, Zero Waste Cooking For Dummies, which aims to help the consumer understand the problem of food waste and learn how to reduce food waste in their homes. I'm passionate about clearing up nutrition and diet and food misinformation, hence Chew the Facts."
