There are many medications and natural remedies (such as Gabapentin, Lyrica, Flexural, Elavil, Tramadol, kava, CBD oil, melatonin, and Revitalizing Sleep Formula) that can help to relieve chronic pain and improve sleep. Taking an Epsom salt bath with 2 cups of Epsom salts before bedtime can also help to relax muscles and improve sleep. Transcript: "Sleep is critical to recovering from chronic pain and there's numerous ways that you can sleep despite the pain. There are many medications that can be very helpful for both. For example, gabapentin or Lyrica both help sleep. The medication Flexeril can be very beneficial as can Elevol as well. And then Tramadol, which is a very good medication despite technically be considered in the narcotic family. It really, in my opinion, does not belong in that family. It's a very safe medication. Natural remedies such as curamin, C-U-R-A-M-I-N, can be very, very helpful for pain as well and to help you sleep. Meanwhile, taking things that help sleep will put you out despite the pain. So there are melatonin, I like a 10 milligram sustained release called EP120 melatonin. There are herbal mixes. My favorite is called the revitalizing sleep formula, herbal essential oils such as terrific C's. There are countless natural prescription options to get to sleeping. And don't forget taking an Epsom salt bath with two cups of Epsom salts before bedtime, about an hour before bedtime to relax your muscles. You can get good sleep and this will help the pain go away. I'm Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum wishing you great health."

Follow your bliss and don't be afraid to say no to things that don't feel good. Transcript: "Joseph Campbell, the world-renowned anthropologist, was asked this question as well. And I'm going to give his quote. What he said is, follow your bliss. Instead of listening to what everybody else says you should do, including me, go ahead and see what feels best to you. And then go ahead and do those things. See how they work out for you. As long as you're not hurting anybody else, it feels good and it's working well for you. Then you're being authentic and learning to say no to things that don't feel good is the flip side of that. So in my 50 years in medicine and 70 years in life, that's what I've learned. I hope that's helpful for you. This is Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, wishing you great health and great joy."
To help with fibromyalgia recovery, it is important to decrease sugar intake and increase salt. It is also important to learn to say "no" to things that make you feel bad and to recognize when you are getting exhausted so you can stop and rest. These lifestyle changes can help improve your overall health and increase your authenticity. Transcript: "Fibromyalgia represents an energy crisis where recovery means that you need to restore energy production and get rid of those things that are draining energy. This can be done with medications, natural supplements, and lifestyle changes. For lifestyle, what's most important is to decrease sugar intake. Sugar aggravates hormonal, it also aggravates immune issues, and causes major problems in this condition, even though you sugar crave. My book will discuss how to get through the sugar cravings, the complete guide to beating sugar addiction. Also, you want to increase salt. If you salt restrict this disease because of the adrenal fatigue, you will crash and burn, and because of the orthostatic intolerance. You also want to learn to say no to things that feel bad, and to notice when your energy is getting to a point that you're getting exhausted and it's time to stop. So listening to how things feel, saying yes to things that feel good, saying no to things that feel bad, is a major lifestyle change that can not only help your fibro recover, but can help you get authenticity and make your life so much better. This is Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, wishing you great health. Be well."
Fibromyalgia can be diagnosed by answering a few simple questions about symptoms such as widespread pain, fatigue and brain fog. If these conditions are present, doctors may use an ACR questionnaire to confirm the diagnosis. Treating the underlying causes of fibromyalgia, however, is more complex and time consuming. Transcript: "Hi, this is Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, and the question was, how do doctors diagnose fibromyalgia? The diagnosis is very simple, takes no testing whatever, and simply needs you to answer a few questions. Number one, do you have widespread pain? And two, do you have trouble with fatigue, brain fog, and a couple similar things. Bottom line is if you are exhausted, it doesn't go away with vacation, and you have the paradox of can't sleep despite being exhausted, especially if you have widespread pain and brain fog, you have fibromyalgia, even if other causes are found, such as autoimmune illnesses. But what doctors use is an ACR questionnaire, and it'll tell people in a minute or so. The diagnosis is easy, learning the causes is what takes time."
