This is a good question. It's one or two routes that I would suggest. Both of them involve going into the Special Operations Forces Medic School first. Because if you were to go to medical school and then go into Special Forces training, they're still going to want you to learn how to do things the way that they want them done and use the techniques and equipment that they have. While you're in medical school for the Special Operations Forces, you can always put in to go green to gold for the Army or some other officer route if you're in the Reserves, and they will pay for your school. So if you go to medical school like Harvard, they will pay some portion of that. Otherwise, going in as a medic, the skills that they're going to teach you are going to be completely different from what you're going to learn if you just went straight from Harvard Medical School into Special Operations. So go to the medical school of Special Forces, learn everything, and then go to medical school in Harvard. Thanks.

Is it worth it to do medical school prior to enlisting to become a soft medic? You know, it doesn't matter if you're already in or you've been accepted to medical school. Yeah, go do it. Why not set yourself up for success? If you have something to go back to if and when you decide to leave the military, if you don't and you want to do soft medicine or you be a soft medic medic like an 18 Delta. All you're doing is setting yourself up again for success to go to medical school. I have dozens of teammates on my pararescue team who did it the traditional way they became pararescue men and went to medical school but then still stayed on as an enlisted pararescue man. This thing is really up to you. How do you want to attack life? The only thing I would say is be prepared for the sticker shock when you get to the QE course.
