If you could make a rule change in the NHL game today what would it be?

I would make two rule changes in the NHL. The first would allow goalies to play the puck below the goal line, which would increase the speed of the game. The second would reintroduce clutching and grabbing holding to give defensemen more time and space to go back for a puck and make a play.

The pucks is such a big thing at the NHL loud, the goalies to to move the puck as they wish. The other one I would talk about would be just the rule change on creating more time and space for defenseman go. Act for the puck. So clutching and grabbing holding I would I would introduce that reintroduce that to the game. Maybe just to give the defenseman a few, more seconds to go back for a puck and make a play. So they're not under so much heavy pressure. So those would be the two that come to mind for me, the trapezoid situation and creating up, creating a little bit more of a hold against opposition's coming back against the defenseman."

What change would I make in the NHL today? Well, that's pretty simple. From a goaltending perspective, I think it's easily the most underutilized and ridiculous rule that applies in the NHL today. And it's the trapezoid, it's the goaltender no touch zones in the corners of the rank below the goal line. It serves no purpose any longer. It doesn't curtail the goaltender's activities in terms of handling the puck the way they envisioned it. When Instituted this rule. What it's done is made goaltenders more athletic and more active in order to Corral pucks and stop pucks, before they get in the trapezoid so that they can play the puck up the ice. It just, it doesn't have a purpose, any longer. It's not a scenario where Defenders coming to retrieve parks are getting run into the end. Boards excessively. That doesn't occur any longer and I think that would be a simple easy rule. Well, to remove and let the goaltender's wander. Now, on the, on the negative side for goaltenders in those trapezoids that area, historically is where the goaltender's make their most turnovers mistakes, and it would create a great deal of opportunity for o fence if goaltenders were turning the puck over. Now I'm going to get letters from the goaltender's union for suggesting that, but in reality, it's an area where goalies make mistakes turn over pucks and create chaos and opportunity for the opposition. So, get rid of the trapezoid.

You can make real change in the NHL. What would it be? I like the rules as they stand. I think there are some tweaks that you could probably do to help it a little bit. I think that the real situation probably which won't be resolved is a players are bigger faster stronger and the ranks of remain the same size. So there's not as much room out there so I would like to see a little bit more room but that would entail complete terms of buildings and that's not going to happen. So as it stands, I like the way the games being played, I think it shows skill and speed and it's a great game.

I think for me, one rule change that I would make in the game today would be to extend the overtime to 10 minutes rather than five. I think that would probably solve most of the games without having to need the shootout. And I think the overtime is probably the most exciting part of games with only, you know, six players in the ice 3 vs 3. I think you'll see a lot more up and back scoring chances that I think less of the shootout, which something is a skills. Titian and I tend to agree on, so I think that having 10 minutes overtime would be more exciting for the fans. You kind of get to see a lot more of a display of skill rather than just the one person on a goalie and I think would be a better better fit for as a whole for the NHL.
