So what is the best yogurt? Well, for me, I'm going to give you a plant-based approach because I am a plant-based person. So for me the best yogurt is actually Siggi's coconut yogurt. And the reason that I like that is a lot of your plant-based yogurts are going to be a little bit higher in sugar. And so I really like the Siggi's because the total sugar is actually just 9 grams. And so it ends up being about with a gram of dietary fiber. So I think it ends up being about 11 or 12 grams of like, actual net carbohydrates. And then the protein is actually 11 grams of protein. And so for a plant-based product, this is a really good ratio of sugar to protein. And so the other reason that I really like that is that you have a pea protein that's in there, coconut milk, so your medium chain triglycerides, which are great sources of energy and really not a lot else. So it's a pretty clean source of yogurt. So that's my go to.

What's the best yogurt? Well the best yogurt is plain yogurt. What I buy here for myself and what we serve to our guests at Three Waves Wellness, we have a bed and breakfast here where we teach people how to eat healthy foods that are going to improve their microbiome, improve their gut brain access, and improve their overall well-being. Yogurt is a really big part of the food that we feed here and we feed plain, no sugar, full fat Greek yogurt. So full fat because dairy with the full fat component has these fatty acids that can really help metabolism, something called CLA, conjugated linoleic acid. You lose that when you take away the fat. So avoid the fat-free stuff, get the full fat stuff. It tastes a lot better as well. Greek because that is a higher protein content. It is basically concentrated over regular yogurt so you've got a much, much higher protein content. And then sugar-free or no sugar added because a lot of these yogurts that add sugar or even just add fruit as they're saying, have as much sugar in them as a soda, 30 or 40 grams. So what we do is we'll serve the full fat, high protein, low sugar, zero sugar yogurt and then let people add their own. They can add sugar as fruit. We put out blueberries and raspberries and blackberries and strawberries or we can put a little maple syrup, a little bit of honey, a little bit of granola. You can sweeten it up to your level and you'll never put in too much sugar.

What's the best yogurt? I don't know the answer to that, but I do know what I look for in yogurt. And when I find ones that meet this criteria by one that meets my criteria is Stony Fields, 100% grass-fed Gleek organic full fat yogurt. I like this one and let me tell you what my criteria are. Number one full fat. I will not even consider a low-fat yogurt, why? Because first of all, It's almost always junk food. The low fat yogurts are appealing to people who still think that that is bad for you especially dairy fat which it isn't. Second of all, when they take the fat off, they usually add even more sugar to make it taste palpable. So those are the ones that tend to have the most sugar and the least fat. And I just discard those completely. I want grass-fed because just like with milk and meat, you don't want the hormones and antibiotics, and steroids, So, basically, I think the Stonyfield meets that the 100% grass-fed, it's a Greek yogurt, and Greek yogurt has less probiotics a little bit more protein, minor difference. But, you know, and there's a little bit of texture difference, but yeah, I like that. And I want to point out one more time, for those who still thinking, my God, he's talking about full fat yogurt, that dairy fat has actually been shown in Studies by Darius, most of Aryan up at At in Boston that dairy fat actually has specific benefits and on a number of different medical conditions. So I think full-fat yogurt is fine again. You want the least amount of sugar you want it full fat and you wanted to be 100% grass-fed and anything that meets that criteria. I'm good with

What is the best yogurt for me? It's going to be Lloyd, goes triple zero and that's because it has zero, artificial sweeteners, zero, fat zero sugar, and 15 grams of protein per cup. So this simply gives me options. I can have it as is. If I'm just looking to get in a little additional protein, if I want to be able to get in more sugars or antioxidants. I'll just add my favorite fruit blueberries, strawberries you name it? And then of course I can. Add in more fats as well. Chia seeds, or any kind of nuts. So, this is where I feel like having some flexibility and just having that around helps me to build what I need for my nutrition for the day.

What is the best yogurt? Well, in my personal and professional opinion, I am a huge fan of plain Greek yogurt and I usually do the fat-free one, the 0% because then I can use that as a base and then I add other flavors to it. So I might of course add a lot of fruit to that. I like the plain Greek because it's nice and thick. Of course it has lots of protein in it versus the traditional non-Greek yogurts and when it's the plain it doesn't have any added sweeteners, added sugar and I can add my own sweetness to that. So if I want to drizzle some honey, if I want to use a packet of non-nutritive sweetener, if I want to add some agave, maple syrup, whatever, you know I can do that or maybe just the fruit is going to give me enough sweetness to take away just that little bit of tart that you're gonna have in that plain Greek. And I do the 0% just to save on some calories and fat and I think just the creamy nature of the Greek yogurt is creamy enough I don't need the fat in it.
