What do you want? People considering a career as a first responder to know, first and foremost, it's very admirable position. It's a big burden you're taking on your shoulders to scrap on that uniform. Be it a police officer, Corrections firefighter, whatever encompasses. Your first responder role on the law enforcement side. You know, it is, it's a very tough position. You're going to be working nights. It's weekends. You're going to miss birthdays anniversaries kids events, graduations, holidays. No be prepared that you know, your life is going to change both with what your schedule is. But also what you're going to see how people are going to interact with you. You're going to have to develop a little bit of a thick skin because you're going to see people at their worst. When something goes bad, that's when you're going to be called. And unfortunately, a lot of times, you may not be the person that they want to see. You could be yelled at spit at Beyond, you know, viral that this, you know, against law enforcement. So you have to develop a thick skin to that aspect of it. But you also have to realize you need to take care of your mental health and don't hold all that in. You need to be willing to talk to people be open but it's a great profession. And it's very admirable. If you're going to go down that road, I loved it. Especially at ATF, 26 years. Their our agency was not very liked by a lot of individuals, but I loved everything I did. And I think it's a great profession that you can get into and just read a lot about it into a lot of research on where you would like to go.

You know, this is a great question. There's so many different things that you probably should consider before you venture into the first responder field. First of all, if you are, I commend you, it's a very rewarding profession. Now, when we talk about First Responders, I'm not just talking about cops, I'm talking about Fire, EMS, Corrections dispatchers? All those Encompass the first responder field, so thank you if you're considering it but the first thing I would say that You need to consider is the mental toll. It's going to take on you. I always tell people, you know, that are looking at getting into the first-responder field that it will affect you. We can only see so much as humans in the trauma and sorrow and suffering that you're going to see is a lot. So consider the toll, it's probably going to take on your mental health because it will affect you. Now, having said that, like, I said it's a very rewarding career but you have to take care of yourself in the process. So that's probably the best advice. I would give somebody venturing into the first responder career Fields, just take care of yourself. Take care of your mental health, have Outlets do your research, go on ride-alongs, that departments before you join them. So I hope this was helpful and I hope you have a great day.

What do I want? People considering a career as first responder no, no. It's a terrific vocation. You get to spend your days in service to others and a times you get to make a difference. It's challenging. Its Dynamic. There's always something new to learn. There is something to experience, but it's not like on television. It isn't all day, life than death stuff. Most of your time is spent just helping people with their problems and preparing to help people with their problems. But it is dangerous. There are things out there that can hurt you. There are things that are out there. There can kill you. And the only way to mitigate that risk is Mastery of the Knowledge and Skills. It takes to be a first responder. So you have to spend every day preparing for the unpredictable, or the unknown more, so, and you have to train and prepare till not that you got it, right? But you always get it right, you never get it wrong. So you have to really prepare yourself, physically and mentally and master those skills. You have to remember there is no 912. So when people call you as a first, responder you have to solve their problem. No problem too big or too small. That being said, at the end of the day, you make a difference in people's lives, you make things better. You can actually save lives and it's an extremely rewarding career. Thanks.

What do you want? People considering a career? The first responder to know, you know, as a first I'll speak specifically for firefighting and first respond all First Responders. It's one of the best, the greatest most rewarding jobs that you'll have, I don't regret one minute. One second of anything I've been through on this job. With that being said, man, always always be training and learning. There's always something to learn. Always something to train on. Don't be scared of changes. Old-school, firefighters, we didn't like change. Change is good. Secondly, it have a support group. You're going to experience, trauma. You can't avoid it in the world of being a first responder. But, you know, that going in and have a support group, whether it's buddies, espouse somebody you can just bounce things off of when things are, you know, building up on you just to release a little bit. It's just part of the job that can't be avoided, but again, is one of the most rewarding jobs you can have I would do it all over again. Starting today, if they'd let me, anybody considering good luck, you'll love it.

What do I want people considering a career and first response to know? I want them to know that to do this job well. I don't mean tactically well or operationally well, although that's incredibly important. To really do this job well every single call where you actually show up for a stubbed toe and you treat that person with with a heavy modicum of respect where you actually show up to the multi-car accident and and your training and your leadership shows up on scene and everything in between. We are there for them. We signed up very specifically to care for our fellow citizens that walk this earth. I want them to know that the way to do this well is to get in the mindset of servant leadership. We are here to serve citizens. We are here to serve each other as peers in first response and when we get into positions of authority and hopefully positions of leadership, those are two different things by the way, we are here to serve the people that at least in terms of rank work underneath us. Servant leadership is is critical to doing this job well. That's what I'd want them to know.

So what do I want people to consider when looking into a career as a first responder? I think one of the biggest things that you want to look into is your why. I mean because you're going to be challenged, you're going to have good days and bad days, but you're also going to have to be able to take the challenge of being able to go home after hard shifts and being able to continue to advance your skills and just deal with situations that maybe you weren't really prepared for. But as long as you have that understanding of why you're here, I think that there's a great chance of success. There's a great chance that you can have a long career as a first responder. And the biggest thing too is to understand when you've had enough and be honest with yourself. I think the first responder career is an amazing, amazing thing that I will never ever be able to emulate and having a why is so important.
