What leadership qualities in? Professional athletes, stand out to me, as a coach, I was very fortunate to be around some incredible athlete leaders in my time in the MBA and three quality stand out to me. The first one is routine and ritual early in their careers. They figured out what works for them. What gets them in a good Rhythm either on a training day or a game day, and they stick with that, it's unwavering, it's unflinching. Rival times, supplementation, timing pregame meal times. How many three-pointers did they get up in the morning of a game and what do they do afterward to recover? You respect it because they don't they don't waver from doing that exact thing each and every day. The second one is sort of this kind of Walk The Talk they find ways genuine to their personality and who they are to become athletes at others. Want to emulate, not everybody's a vocal leader, right? People do it by habit. And by example, just in how they carry themselves each day and then others actually, will put their arms around a rookie or another athlete and say, hey, you need to change this but they become someone that others point to, as a way to do things, right? And then, the third one, is this notion of respectful, communication, respectful confrontation, when something needs to be said to a coach or practitioner strength, coach trainer, physical therapist. Something they don't agree with whether it's a Tactical technical decision watching film with a coach, or they don't understand a strength exercise or a treatment protocol that they respectfully question it. And you understand that they are asking in their delivery because they want what's best for themselves as pro athletes that they deserve the best from those around them. So the question is, what leadership qualities and fresh life to stand out to you. I would have to say there's a lot of them but I think too that stuck out in particular one is sacrifice and that's not just sacrifice in terms of time and energy. It's sacrificing terms of what your goals are sometimes for the greater goals. I saw that a lot with some players one in particular, Kevin Garnett, who would sacrifice for the team any time he could. His goal was to win. And however it took he do it didn't care. If he shot the ball, once he just go rebound, he played defense, he'd get energy to bring energy to the team. That sacrifice is a huge one. I think the second one is the ability to identify your weaknesses and then let them be shown. So kind of being vulnerable, I think a good team has players that become vulnerable to each other. And that's not like saying that it's hard. I mean it's easy to do but super hard to do. It's hard to trust that your teammates. Will look at your weaknesses or look at you and say, oh, you know what, he is, a super plus for our team. Even though he has his weaknesses or his ability to recognize that he has to get these weaknesses covered or a better. Adam really helps the team to almost step away from the, I'm one better than you. I'm better than you. I'm better than you in terms of saying, oh, you know, together, we need to do this so that we can be the best. So I think some other some qualities. Obviously, you know, there are ton more, but those are two that I kind of noticed things.

I've been fortunate enough to work with many really good. Professional athletes. And here are some of the qualities that, that I find leadership qualities that I really admire and have found it to be, you know, help them be truly successful, not only on the field but off the field. The first is integrity and that's just being generally, just being a nice person and a lot of times people are just not nice and I think that that goes a long way and then they're generally a good person. The second one is trust. Trust in the process but also trust in the coach and System that we're doing. It doesn't mean that you don't ask questions. It means you're not questioning the system and the third one would be collaboration. I've had the most success where you know, myself and the athlete were both part of the same process at the end of the day. I think the coach is going to make the final call but you want to be have the athlete part of that conversation. It's not a authoritarian or a dictatorial, type of relationship, but one where we working as a team together, and this may also involve other team members often times, You know, as a head coach, you might be, you know, a Dakota team leader or project manager. And you might be working with a lot of other people underneath that. So that everybody is working together as one unit for the success of the athlete. Or the team is really when coaching is at its highest level,

Hi, John, this is a great question. So somebody once said to me, they said, you know, if I were to hire somebody, I would hire an Olympian or a professional athlete because they often come with a nice little neat package of being a good leader. All right, so we look at things like passion, we think think we look at things of dedication, we look at things of hard work, we look at things of being on time. We look at things of working towards a goal, and even if you fail, you pick yourself up and you Keep on going. So the quality is of professional athletes and or Olympians is you you learn and they become ingrained in how you perform as also a person in the workforce. So that's what I say.

Yes, what a valuable question leadership. Qualities and professional athletes. That stand out to me are number one recognition, a true athlete that possesses leadership. Skills recognizes the efforts of others, recognizes the successes of others and recognizes how they can contribute to a team culture. The second thing is team culture, they are the athlete. That is not desires to build a community, a community of individuals who are accountable to one another who have integrity who have trust and communicate and then finally number three is communication, a true athlete who has the skill of communicate? A true athlete? That's a leader. Has the skill of communication. They can communicate to their teammates, they can communicate to their coach. They can communicate to their opponents in respectful ways and that level of communication builds trust and builds Rapport. And ultimately it communicates that this is who I am. And this is what I believe.
