What is your system for data protection and what are your favorite data backup Solutions? Well, I have a server at home and to be really honest I am not like a data geek. I've definitely rely on my husband to help me cuz you know, if we talked about what our strengths and our weaknesses, our this is definitely not my strength. So I rely on others who are more Adept at this than me. And so, my husband came and he set up a server for me and I also have I have little drives that I keep to, so if I'm on location shooting, I will download my cards to my computer and then I will back those up on these drives. And then those drives will get backed up, time to my server. And then all of the final selects get put on photoshelter, which is a secure online storage system that also ties into my secure website.

That's a really good question is very valid. What is your system for data protection? I assume you saying image Library back up when you ask that do you have a favorite data backup Solutions? Well, the one I'm using wouldn't that be my favorite? Isn't that kind of obvious? Well anyway I use very simply OWC these Thunder Bay. I have 55 18 terabytes. Drives in there on raid 4 and I have a four of those, I have primaries and then I back them up to another set. So I have all hard copies. I don't have any off-site storage. I don't use. I iCloud stuff at all because I have, what is it? I have a total of cheese. I guess would be about 140 terabytes, tween Neffs and finish images. So yeah, it take my lifetime in someone else's life time. Just to get them into the cloud. So it's all hard storage right here in the office.

Okay, the question is, what is your system for data protection? What are your favorite data backup solutions? I like things pretty simple. I like having my data where I can touch it, in front of me, you know, kind of old-fashioned. I want to see my data. I want to see it. So, I've got three hard drives, three primary libraries. So, three 10-terabyte drives are my primary library. I've got more, but I've got three primary libraries that I work from, I bet, 90% of the time. Three of those. One of those has two backups, carbon copy cloner to duplicate the exact data on two other drives. Now, I've got nine hard drives, three for each library. I can grab either one to work off of it. They're complete. I take one of those, put it in the bank, get it off-site, bring it back once a month or so to update it, put it back again. I keep two in the office, and I take one when I go on the road. So, at any given time, one's with me, one's at home, one's in the bank. So, if anything happens weird, I think I'm covered, you know. But I like things simple. I like things in front of me. It's just very simple.

The question is, what is your system for data protection? What are your favorite data backup Solutions? This could be very complicated for a photographer who has many many, many different files to back up. Originally, I was using a direct attached storage system for my photos, there was always that option. So I used a redundant system, so everything was backed up in different systems, I would say. Now I'm working more with nass, which is Is a network attached storage system is called Synology and have like that up quite a bit. I use it with what they call a gigabit switch. So it's a little faster, but I do Synology and I feel like that has been a very good solution for me so far.
