So a Lisfranc fracture is a fracture of the foot. It's where your metatarsals meet your toes on the top of your foot. It tends to happen to a lot of dancers. And is it serious? I mean any broken bone is serious so you're definitely gonna have to go see a doctor for that. Most likely they will cast you and the recovery time is like any broken bone in your body. You've got about four to six weeks in a cast and then you might want to learn how to melt your feet because the problem is as your foot is casting it causes a ton of dehydration in the connective tissue and it can weaken the musculature of your feet. So treating your feet by using these small soft balls in the first onsets of repair when when you're when the bone has healed really important and while you are recovering I would highly recommend that you use the melt soft roller and melt your calves and the back of your thighs to improve the fluid state of the entire connective tissue system so that it minimizes the recovery time when the cast comes off and even if you're not casted the non weight-bearing time just creates atrophy in the muscles. So to minimize that make sure that you're working on your legs and keeping your connective tissue supple and supportive. Thanks!

Good day. Lisfranc fractures occur at the lisfranc joint, which is the joint of the metatarsal region on the foot. They result from rapid torsion, dorsiflexion of the forefoot, midfoot, on the hind foot. And they frequently are underdiagnosed. They're difficult to pick up initially on x-ray, meaning that CT and MRI are more sensitive. These are seldom done at the first presentation. And the thing that makes them more serious in terms of injuries is that the resulting instability that comes with this fracture leads to ongoing symptoms within the medial arch, even the hind foot. Long-term management of lisfranc fractures is most effectively done by surgical stabilization across the medial midfoot, running a screw from the medial cuneiform into the second metatarsal base. If the fracture is caught early enough, if it is a very mild fracture, and depending on the individual, it may be possible for conservative modalities, non-weight-bearing casting, for example, to be effective. But most sports individuals, most people who are athletic, will ultimately require more aggressive, i.e. surgical remediation of the problem. And that's why they tend to be classified as more serious injuries.
