What do you wish would change about the health and fitness industry?

Okay, I don't even know if I know the answer to what I'm about to propose about what I would change, but it's how when people are looking for a health and fitness trainer, okay, how do they research What these people are able to offer them. For example, the spectrum is very big, right? We have our personal trainers, who take a weekend course, we have our personal trainers who perhaps have their kinesiology degree or other or other exercise degree. And then we have our people that have our degrees in kinesiology. And then say, for example, of the cscs, you have to have A degree in a health field in and how field to be able to even write the exam to be certified as a strength, and conditioning coach. So that's another level. And then, of course, you have people who have gone on to do their masters with 30 years of experience of it, there's many, many, many tears of somebody going in to a gym and having a one-hour training session with this with, with his trainer. So you know all the levels are fantastic, but an Shouldn't to the to the people looking for help. They often don't know whether it is a personal trainer with a weekend course, or somebody who has 30 years of experience with an NSC, acses and a master's etc. Etc. So, some way that it won't take the client forever to research, what level they want their trainer at, that's what I would change about the health and fitness industry.

Hey John, what a great question. What do I wish would change about the health and fitness industry? I would say for me I wish that there was a governing or regulating body for certification as well as the professionals who are in the field. Without this regulation, there is a lot of misinformation that the general public and regular consumers are receiving which can be very confusing. Very frustrating for individuals who are trying to get fit trying to get. Well, as also there are those, you know, do a DIY individuals who are showing up on the scene and they all they become the The resource of choice simply because their Instagram, famous social media, famous, and that really hurts the industry and hurts individuals who believe in the myths, that are not research. That are not proven and sometimes they actually get physically hurt. So I wish that there was more regulation around the the industry and I wish there was a way that we could publicize and inform the public on how to find credible. Educated individuals to help you.

What do you wish would change about the health and fitness industry? I wish that we were reaching more people, I still feel that because of our obesity issues and health issues that are escalating year after year, that we're not doing our best job in sending a friendly message, so much of the time, people are looking so fit that many people cannot relate to the message. And I know we're getting better at this as a result of Education. And body awareness, but I think we have a long ways to go in reaching so many people that are not being touched by the fitness or strength industry. One example, is when I was teaching water therapy classes, I had a lot of overweight people that would come to class and people that were rehabbing for very specific reasons. And they would come straight to the pool and straight out into the locker room and go home. Never entered. The gym never felt comfortable in entering the gym. So I think programming that reaches more of the masses is really an important things that we all need to work on and be a little better with

There's a great question, John, thanks for asking this one because what would it change in the fitness and health and fitness industry, I've been in this over 30 years. So I've seen a lot and maybe the one thing I wish I could see changes that strength coaches and Professionals in the field. Get the amount of respect that that truly they deserve. And you know, if we look at it from a team setting, we often see that we have the athletic trainers and the physical therapist, and strength staff is down, somewhere down, below that. But they played just as, you know, an important role in some cases, more important role because the work we're doing is Upstream. We're trying to foresee the things that could happen and trying to head them off before they happen. And so, when that when you do a good job I wouldn't that that is successful. Then things looks like it was easy because we weren't reacting to stuff that that may have gone wrong. But overall I have seen, you know, very positive changes in the field. I don't think have happened fast enough but Hopefully, it continues to grow and develop, and, you know that coaches and strength coaches are seen as professionals and the role they play, you know, in the lives of young, athletes and Collegiate athletes and pro athletes. Not only from a performance standpoint, but from a long-term Health standpoint. So hopefully it continues to change and as a field grows and gets bigger.
