Great question. So my dog just lost one eye in an accident. How can I make our home easier for him to adjust to? So in general, dogs with one eye do great. When we lose an eye, either us or animals, what happens? So if you were to cover an eye, you can see that you still have a visual field to about right here and a visual field to about right here. Our blind spot tends to be over here. So there is a small blind spot that they may get more surprised about. They could bump into things on that side, but in general, dogs adapt very well. Some of the issues we think they could have are with depth perception or stereopsis, which is, let's say you were to jump up onto the couch, but it's hard to judge the distance where to jump up or they're trying to catch a toy. Will they still be able to? And dogs really adapt amazingly well that they can they can really adjust to these things and still show pretty good depth perception or stereopsis despite only having one eye. So in short answer to your question, there's not really much that you have to change with your environment around the house. Dogs are going to adapt very well. Now watching the other eye, making sure for any issues develop, and always going in to see a veterinarian or a veterinary ophthalmologist to protect the remaining eye would be important to do. But other than that, they will usually adapt great and do very well with one eye.
