Instagram says photos are dead. What do I think? Well, boy, do I have a pinions on this one? When you freeze a moment in time, and you do it, right? And that moment in time, that Frozen moment tells a viewer, a story, there's very little more powerful than that. And arguably motion video can't tell the exact same story as a single moment in time. And I'll give you an example. If you're watching the news, it looks great in the anchors. Look fantastic. But if you ever noticed, if you ever try and pause the television, you will never pause somebody with their face, looking good and normal. You'll almost always pause them in unflattering way. While that's not something you're going to show people. It's not something you're going to use, is a photo. I want you to think about that. As an example of a frozen moment in time that says something different to you than what the video did people. Still want to see their favorite bands. In a photograph people. Still want photos of their kids. People still take selfies and when they take a selfie they're not taking video, they're taking still photography. So, while Instagram is a platform and has to decide where the runway is for them, and where they want to go next and have decided that it's motion and reels. That's fine. Hey, more power to them, but photos are not dead. Brett, thanks for the question.

Instagram says that photos are dead. But that may be true for Instagram. I don't believe that photos are dead in any way, shape, or form. I think platforms change. We think about Google Plus and how many people that were so involved in that. And then it went away. But photos are still here. So I wouldn't worry too much about the platform. The different platforms are going to change. But photography stills are as rich and beautiful and engaging as ever. So don't worry about the platform. Just keep shooting.

Instagram says photos are dead. What do you think this like nice' saying, God is dead? Or we have to be there. Anyway, um, what do I think about this? I think Instagram gave photos, sort of A different kind of value than before it was reachable by everybody. Everybody contributed in taking sharing consuming photos so much more than before. So maybe Instagrams Focus shifted to more like Tick-Tock e like videos with music and and like content creation. So maybe Instagram viewers maybe even me included like we want to we want to watch something that's a little bit longer than just if I get it for Instagram it could be dead but what a photo does you can never replicate in video and real put true photographers we're out for that one image. I mean I I love the idea of video and moving images and everything but I'm a photographer and I will defend photography a little bit more than what Instagram wants to say but hopefully photography is still here too. Stay even though I get it, maybe they don't get enough views but yeah still photography is not dead.

Instagram says photos are dead. What do I think? I think Mark Zuckerberg is desperate and is following Trends and I think photos are far from dead. If you look at print Publications or sell out there if you look at I mean there's still so much print media out there. Look at airports, look at everything around. You photos, Aren't Dead. Photos are far from dead maybe in a social media sense. They're dead because mindless dubbed over videos are more entertaining for a certain demographic. But look at how many wedding photographers out there looking how many? Photojournalist are still are out there imagery photos are still extremely impactful and they have the dynamic range. And Ability to really capture stuff that sometimes motion can't. And just because someone, who, I mean, don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure and, you know, Facebook's stock has plummeted horribly, you know, over the last year. Or so, a couple years that's not because, you know, photos were holding them back. That's because Is something else came along that was more Mindless and it will generate more attention and that's just Trends. You know, Trends will come and go but I don't think photography is a trend it's you know, stood the test of time and it's always going to be around so I wouldn't take too much stock in that.

Hi, Brett, yes. Oh Instagram saying photos, a date, huh? Which pretty weird because they might be looking at Sony Walkman moment there because they are the ones that were telling us that photos are alive and to get out there and explore. I don't think Instagram and thinking this through, if that's what they're saying, I know people like looking at videos and and reels and stuff like that, but You know, there's nothing like having a photograph to sit there look at and explore, you know, maybe it's time for someone to start up a new app. If Instagram don't want to support photos, I've just wasted the last three years of my life. I'm a bit perplexed about this. Anyway, thanks for the question. I hope that has you even less sure about it read today, I've been out in the sun. Need to put some more sunscreen on. Yeah. Well Instagram says photos are dead. What do you think? Well, who are we saying Instagram? We're talking about meta and the better verse the people who are trying to monetize reels and R2 blowing chunks. Is that make it happen? So yeah. What do I think? I think it's a bunch of hooey and this is not the first round, not the first time that still photography is said to be dead by somebody. And Forecasted that way. I've seen this a number of times during my career and cheese somehow, you know, to our years later, it's still surviving. So yeah, don't, yeah, I don't go there.
