How did I prepare differently between the 2000 Olympics and the 2004 Olympics? In 2000, I was still in college at the University of South Carolina. I was a junior at the time, and I had a lot of races under my belt. I had a full indoor season and a full outdoor season. It seems like we ran every week from January to June. So I actually had to taper off a lot before the Olympic trials in 2000. In 2004, I had moved back home to Atlanta. I had been dealing with some injury issues, so it was kind of touch and go for the most part. I think around late May, early June, I started to feel a lot better going into the 2004 Olympic trials. And so they were different in that I did a lot of races in 2000. I didn't do quite as many in 2004, but the results were the same as I wound up getting a silver medal in both. So grateful for that. Seems like I came to the same destination, just using different routes.
