Do you wear gloves when you climb this is actually a pretty common question from people who maybe don't know much about climbing and it's understandable, because rocks look rough and you imagine that they tear up your hands. But really, when you're rock climbing, you. You don't want to have gloves on because you want to be able to feel every inch of The Rock. And so really, the only thing that we're wearing when we're actually physically, rock climbing is putting chalk on our hands to help dry them out and Of our friction improve our grip if you ever do. See a rock climber wearing gloves, it's going to be when they're either rappelling or belaying and so, they'll be wearing gloves to help manage the Rope because the Rope gets pretty dirty. And then if your hands get dirty, they become less durable when you're climbing on the Rock. And so, yeah, wearing gloves can be helpful also to stay warm but you have made me just to protect your hands. When you're bling your partner who's climbing or when your owing and descending from a climb after you're done.

Do you wear gloves when you climb? Well, when I'm rock climbing. I definitely don't wear gloves when I was younger. I just started climbing, I found climbing very painful, my skin was always sore because I wanted to climb so much. I thought climbing the gloves would be a good idea. I tried it once I never did it again because you just lose all sensitivity through your fingers, and you really need to know what you're gripping onto when you're climbing, especially when you want to climb at your maximal level, the one exception to this. This is during winter climbing or alpinism when you're not actually having to grab ahold of holds rock or rocky protrusions, but you're actually holding onto ice axes. So the sensitivity through your hand isn't as important, therefore, you can get away with using gloves. In fact, it's actually necessity to wear gloves because if you went when I'm climbing without gloves, your fingers would fall off from frostbite.

So do I wear gloves when climbing this an interesting question actually? Because for normal climbing, what your classes kind of, you know, going to the Bouldering Gym or what you would see outside, grabbing holds in a normal way, then you would never wear gloves. And the reason you wouldn't wear gloves is because the friction on your skin is a lot better than the friction using gloves. And also if you were to wear gloves and hold climbing holds then, there would be a lot of movement between your Skin and the gloves. And that's like, not what you want climbing, holds, especially if the hole is quite small. So in those circumstances, then, like, climbers. Never wear gloves. The one time that climbers do wear gloves is for crack climbing, and this is a, specialized type of climbing, which is climbing, the sort of cracks in the Rocks, essentially, and crack climbers, wear gloves to protect the back of that. And because within this sort of climbing, the back of your hand is Touching The Rock and because the skin on the back of the hand, is more sensitive in a way and can rip and tear more easily. Then we wear gloves to protect that part of the hand. One more time, where you might see climbers, wearing gloves is actually when people are belaying. So it's not when you're climbing. But when you're holding the Rope for under climber, then sometimes people wear what we call belay gloves. So that is another time. Within the climbing that you might wear gloves.

Do I wear gloves when I climb? I would say there are things that we put on the tops of our knuckles called a tape glove and there are things that we kind of handle the rope with called belay gloves meaning we're feeding the rope out for our climbing partner or taking the rope in for our climbing partner but when you're grabbing small holds on the wall you're generally going with just your bare hand but when you're climbing things that are cracks that are really wide meaning wider than your fist I will wear gloves when I climb those literally I will wear a pair of leather gloves because I don't need to grab any small holds on the rock I just need to shove my hand in there and that just protects my hand it protects my thumb protects my fingers but when we're just climbing on the rock and there's small holds to grab you cannot climb in gloves
