Are there any red flags to look for when taking on a client? Yes I think you know I think a client relationship should be one that you know, there's somebody you want to have dinner with or there's somebody want to hang out with outside of the works fear and by that, I mean there's an open dialogue. It's you know, very transparent about what your expectations are for your client and what there's ours of you now, the red flags would be if If they ask for something and then change the game, 5 seconds later, and then change it again. And then ask for something more without offering compensation for that. Those are red flags and you want to be able to have a very transparent relationship. If for right out the gate things are a little muddy. Then you want to be treading with caution and maybe ask some critical questions of your clients and decide that maybe the best thing to do would be to walk away.

Are there any red flags to look for when taking on a new client? I don't take on very many new clients as I'm a Staff photographer. But yes, I mean certainly you ask around if there's a new client and you don't know what people's experiences are with them. Reach Out, find out how they've treated other photographers and other people who have worked for them. Do they pay? I mean, if they, if it sounds like oh, you have to fight them, you know, with an invoice for month after month, after month to try to get your money. Then that is definitely a red flag if they use your photography. You and your work beyond what is agreed to in the licensing agreement. That's a red flag. If they want to buy all the rights yet not pay you a large fee for owning the images, another red flag. So it's really a lot of those. Those kinds of business decisions that would raise red flags and if you know, I was looking at a new potential client

Are there any red flags to look for when take on a client when it comes to Critters? Yeah, I don't really either as any red flags when it comes to a person, a human being. Yeah, I'm sure there are. I think one of the main ones to think about is if there's just a mishmash of characters or personalities you've got to get to some extent, be able to communicate and that communication has to do with personalities and how well you can listen and how well they Listen. Now, with that said, red flags to me, often are kind of like a bull in a ring for me. It's like I'm after him, I want to make him happy. I want to bring him over into my camp and knock on wood that has worked every single time. Now, sometimes not as successfully as I would have hoped but they've all, you know, turned out where I got paid and they were happy. So, you know, it's really about personalities. I think Okay.

Are there any red flags to look out for when taking on a new client? You know, not really. I mean, if it just doesn't feel right and you can afford to say no to a job, then say no to it. If morally it's wrong, well then I think you should definitely say no to it. You can't really ask anyone else. You can have a look at their past work, if it's for advertising or something. You can do a good solid search on a company or a client and have a look at what they've produced in the past and that will give you an idea and you'll probably even find out who the photographer was as well. The thing about photography is we have an asset which they want and that's the photographs. And so if you're feeling a little bit dodged, you can always give them some low res or something like that and then hold on to the raw or the high res until the money's paid or just give a couple of low res selections and wait till the cash as well. So there's ways of doing it. Don't get grumpy. You've got to stay kind with the client because you want them to come back and you never know that what doesn't feel right actually is a client that ends up being your best mate and hires you forever. So just be careful about judgment, I guess.
