I improved my FTP from 250W to 400W over the past five years by having an endurance background, running, and spending time on the rowing machine. Transcript: "So my starting point, I think the first time I ever took an FTP test on Swift was about five years ago, and I think I was about 250 Watts at that time and this year. I broke 400 watts. So felt pretty good about that in terms of what I did to improve. Well, first of all, having a background in endurance, running my whole life. I think helped me accelerate pretty quickly on. Bike and then just a lot of a lot of hard work and some time on the rowing machine as well. I think that definitely helped it's kind of like strength endurance even more so than what I can do when I'm low RPM on the bike."
I confronted my fear of heights by taking my daughter rock climbing and repelling to help her not have the same fears. Transcript: "I'm a bit afraid of heights, so I took my daughter's rock climbing and repelling as a way to both handle my fears but also hopefully help them not have the same fears."
We all prefer summer. Transcript: "As much as I love skiing, I'd have to say Endless Summer. I prefer Heat versus cold. How about you Thomas? I prefer heat. How about you? Do you prefer summer? Or winter? I think we all prefer summer."
I once did an hour in the pool, then five or six hours on Swift and an hour on the treadmill which was close to doing an indoor Iron Man. Transcript: "Little biggest Training Day. Good question. Well, it probably was an indoor training day. I do most of my work outs in dorbz, like the one I'm doing right now. I think, I once did an hour in the pool, then came home and did either five or six hours on Swift and then went on the treadmill. And did I think it was close to an hour on the treadmill, so it was almost, it's pretty. Close to doing an indoor Iron Man, but not quite."
My favorite Olympics to watch was the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. I got to watch the 10,000-meter race from some seats with family members of people who were in the race, which made it an exciting experience. Transcript: "Hi, Brett, unlike most of the experts on this platform. I've never actually been a part of any Olympics and never will be at this point. The closest I ever got was running in the marathon Olympic trials, back in 2007, but I have to say, probably my favorite Olympics to watch was the one that I've actually been to in person as a spectator so far, which was the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, and I remember watching the 10,000-meter on the track and happen to have some seats with family members of people who were in the race. And so that was pretty fun and exciting."
I like to focus on improving my weaknesses even though it takes more time and can be difficult. Transcript: "I know some people say, stick with what you're good at and just do that. That said I do like to focus on improving my weaknesses. I know it's more painful and takes more time, but I believe that's how I can ultimately be better overall. For example, in Triathlon. I'm spending more time swimming than anything else because that's by far my biggest weakness."
