Okay, so how do you maintain good spine health in between visits to the chiropractor? Also really important, because as much as regular chiropractic care will help you feel better and help you achieve all of your goals and live your best life, you cannot go to the chiropractor, I don't recommend it weekly if you don't have a problem going on. So you have to have some things at home you do to maintain your spine health. Have a great mattress and a great pillow, make sure your sleeping ergonomics are as good as they can be, make sure that your workstation ergonomics are varied, sitting, standing, walking, whatever you need to do while you're working. Make sure that you are creating some stretching and flexibility opportunities, whether it's a yoga class once a week, which I do recommend minimum of once a week, whether it's just some stretches you're doing at home, following maybe a 10 minute YouTube routine with that, make sure that you are also stretching other areas of your body that you find tight and it will tell you what to do there. Hydrate a bunch, take a really good quality glucosamine chondroitin supplement, that's the type of thing you won't see the payoff for for a very, very long time, but it's good to start that now as soon as you can, as soon as possible. And pay attention to your body, notice your signs, if you need an adjustment, if you need some work done, the sooner the better and maintain that, I recommend every four weeks.

So tips for maintaining good health between visits to the chiropractor are no different than maintaining good health for your spine if you're going to see your primary care provider or any other health care provider. And that's because tips for maintaining good spinal health are largely the same as they are for other system-wide diseases. We know that the spinal tissues, all of the muscles, ligaments, the discs, the bones, it all works as a big system. And from the research that has been done and is being done, there are some very large correlations between long-term chronic problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental health problems, depression, and back pain. So we need to take care of ourselves in general. In between visits to your health care provider, you should be exercising, you should be making sure you're watching your diet and having a healthy diet, taking care of looking at what your own metrics are, what's your weight, your BMI, your blood pressure. All of this plays out in your general health. Your spine lives in your body, it's reliant upon your general health. Take good care of yourself in between your visits to your health care provider in general and your spine will be pretty happy about that.
